What is currently happening is the path to facism. To be clear i do not mean this is the beginning of a new nazi empire that will gas and exterminate people. This is the path of a country that is on its way to radical authoritarian nationalism. The administration will and are putting in constraints (gerrymandering, redistricting, voter registration limitations, id requirements, suppression of opposing political party) to ensure their plan of soft dictatorial power, through forcible suppression of opposition ("fake news", lawsuits against news organizations, attacks at corporations owning opposing press, branding press as the number 1 enemy of the state) and control of industry and commerce.

The current administration is calling Mexicans and brown people, cockroaches, people from sh*tholes, associating every immigrant with criminal gang members to create a narrative of and association of subhuman grouping to allow for acceptance of human rights violations against CHILDREN. Think about that for a second. This is something that is repeated in history countless times, decry a group to be responsible for the negatives of society, create a narrative of subhuman qualities and thus the idea that any damage or harm they get is approved/okay/understandable because they deserve it for being responsible for the negatives of society.

These are children here. ICE has made a comment the last 24hours that some parents wont be able to get their children back. You had one whistleblower guard from an ICE concentration camp state that they had to tell children between 4-8 to stop hugging each other (for comfort).

Is this what you believe America to be? Is this the qualities that America should have?

You should be outraged instead of making jokes.

Well said. Props and much respect.. Even as a supporter of some ppl, places, things: I feel this pissing match has gone on way too much cuz one side is trying to make improvements while the other is just busy fighting, just to be fighting the current official. We are backpedaling in a way that is worrisome to all across the globe. I really don't think it'd have gone this far with proper bipartisan support and I'm both 'not surprised' and ' also in shock' at the state things have gone. Personally, if we vote the current president outta office, we need to also vote every Democrat and Rhino out of office as well. Period. Cuz they are doing nothing but creating expensive opposition that's just draining EVERYONE'S pockets in the process.. We may not notice it much now but we certainly will by the time the next chief takes office. My personal take on this: Quit whining about everything imaginable, wear a tampon if you're bleeding that badly and put forth an effort to help constructively instead of whining excessively (and unproductively) about the President. (Looking at you @dan330, Lol) As in, to everyone : BE A PART OF THE SOLUTION instead of complacently adding to the problems

There's a difference between seeing a problem and just whining about it all day/everyday. No, I won't be likely to vote him a second term but I'm not gonna waste my time and efforts by spending every post I make into a snark or complaint on the president. I shut up, take notes, and make my decisions with the polls instead of lamenting in every post I make. Like dude, I've seen you make irrelevant posts/complaints on other threads about the President. Threads that had NOTHING to do with politics.. All ya seem to do is repetitively complain and make accusations (about whatever atrocities CNN came up with, recently in their parking lot. Lmao) on a daily basis in an ANDROID forum.. Dude, we already get the picture and Trump will hear from us during elections, so do yourself a favor & find a new hobby or ya just may do all of us a favor here due to stressing to much (leads to strokes and aneurysms). ;)

Speaking up is nice, but idle hands produce no results.

I read that someone offered some ideas, like a nationwide strike, like every free moment getting out in your neighborhoods and getting people registered, educate others, make voices heard, not just screamed into the void.

I've been calling local senators and congressmen, I can't get out and register people cause I live in RED HELL ... so I do what I can.

I appreciate the release of stress and steam by bitching about it, but ... man we got to DO something, this is ... sliding downhill quickly. Don't know how much will be left if we wait till Nov. Hell can we even have a fair (un-meddled) election with POTUS dismantling any hope of cleaning up the voting systems?

It might take more than just ... getting out and making a decision with your vote, if your vote goes where the Russians want instead of where you place it.

The other problem is a lot of history has been forgotten. The Japanese got interned during WWII. American Indians have been kicked off their lands and interned elsewhere. Nobody remembers Sen. Joe McCarthy.

Pulling out of the Human Rights Council of the UN as Israel is not treated fairly - what about our own Jewish population?

The new policy means that parents who arrive at the border with their children will be sent to criminal detention facilities. Children cannot be sent to those facilities, and therefore are sent to separate detention facilities and deemed “unaccompanied minors.”

“We don’t want to separate families, but we don’t want families to come to the border illegally. This is just the way the world works,” Attorney General Jeff Sessions said.

Prior to the new policy, most families that arrived at the border were dealt with through a civil removal process. This kept families together.

Donald Trump, responding to criticism of his own policy, blamed it on a “horrible law” that was kept in place by Democrats.

This is not true. There is no law that requires the Trump administration to separate families. Children as young as 1 year old are being separated from their families as a result of this new, discretionary Trump administration policy.

US SUPREME COURT RULED RENO V FLORES

“In March of 1993, The United States Supreme Court issued a ruling in Reno v Flores. (Yes, “That” Reno. Janet Reno, Bill Clinton’s first Attorney General who ordered that young Elian Gonzalez be torn from his family’s arms while hiding in a Miami closet. You might remember the iconic photograph.)

The Court in Flores decided that minors could not be incarcerated with the adults accompanying them across the United States border illegally. The decision was the result of a long dispute in how to best care for these children while the adults were detained for criminal proceedings.

You see, when aliens cross the border illegally, they are incarcerated until their criminal case is decided. The understandable argument at the time was “why should children be incarcerated while their parents are in jail?” It seemed a fundamental violation of international human rights. Makes sense, right?

As a result, The Flores case drew a line in the sand. Children could not be incarcerated with their parents or accompanying adult while being held for illegal immigration violations. And a subsequent 1997 agreement stipulated that children must be placed in a safer environment where they could enjoy certain privileges, including education, a clean, safe environment and other normal life cycle amenities that incarcerated individuals do not enjoy.

It was considered a “victory” for human rights. By separating adult and child, we protected the children, reducing any harm done to them for their parent’s or accompanying adult’s decisions.

A lot has happened since then. However; bottom line, these juvenile, shelters have been operating in accordance with the law, and overseen by the Department of Health and Human Services to protect those children from the hazards of parental incarceration since 1997.

So, since Donald Trump was running his real estate empire, selling wine and casinos in 1993, we are left to determine just how he managed to orchestrate this cruel “separation of immigrant parent and child” 25 years BEFORE he was President of the United States. The obvious answer is, he didn’t. He had nothing to do with establishing this United States immigration policy. Today, he simply enforces it.

This one story illustrates how important it is for us to do our research regarding today’s headlines. The Corporate Media either refuses to do the research, is incapable of doing the research or has done the research and decided to lie to you about its findings. Either way, this would make the Corporate Media lazy, incompetent or just plain deceptive. Liars, if you will.”
