Power AMP vs Player Pro?

The stock media player in Galaxy S is uber drab. Hence the need for a new media player.

Power AMP is something everyone seems to recommend. Just the fact that it has over 10000 reviews on the market speaks a lot about the popularity. I gave the player a try and the equalizer REALLY impressed me. Its ultra sensitive and the extra Bass and Treble settings help immensely. The interface though is plain boring.

Player Pro though is a master of interface. Almost immediately after installing, amazing album art was downloaded (ones other than the standard album covers). The fact that one can basically search for album covers and select them right from the app itself is mind blowing. But then somehow, the audio output just doesnt live up to expectations. Also the fact that they have another separate app (honestly, why!) for the equalizer settings spoils the whole thing.

Do you use any of the above? Which one do you like more?

Personally I love Player Pro, although I never really tried Power AMP long enough.

On the other hand, I also love Audiogalaxy since I can basically access 9,000 songs on my desktop from anywhere I can get a signal.

Also for purely eye candy, I really like THIS player.

bought a copy of power amp. but looks like it wont be long till i buy a copy of player pro as well :) lovely softwares both

TO me they are more or less equal, however Poweramp has one thing that PP does not that makes all the difference to me: If you use your voice search or if a text/email comes in it pauses so you can hear the notification or speak into the mic without the music playing and screwing you up. This is huge for me since I use my Evo for music while driving, plugged into my CD player in my car. Aside from that, there is WinAmp which while rather basic in its features is the only player out there so far that will work with the "Listen To" command so sometimes I use that in the car. So I can just say "Listen to Friday, Rebecka Black" and it will play. It helps me to no DIE IN A CAR CRASH while searching music folders :P

Why are you polling for popularity if you already know that Poweramp is extremely popular?

Asking "why" would be beneficial. Otherwise you'll just get fans promoting their preferred app which may or may not be relevant to your needs/wants.

you can search for cover art with poweramp as well :)

Poweramp looks like it will search for album art and use it whether you want it to or not. Is that correct? I haven't tried the album art setting yet because I already tagged my songs, but poweramp won't find all of the album art I have.

There's a setting that allows you to choose whether the poweramp downloaded album art overrides the one already in the sd card or not. So you get to choose either way :). And yep, you're right, it doesn't find EVERY cover, but it does a fairly decent job in my experience.

Also, while in PowerAmp you can press and hold on the album cover and it will let you choose which cover art to use.

I've used both apps quite a bit. Poweramp wins for robust features but lacks a good interface. Player Pro has an excellent gui/interface and has decent features. I personally have stuck more with Player Pro because Poweramp's Gui/Interface was just too cluttered for my tastes.

Aside from both of those....is Audiogalaxy. I use that way more then the others.

any comment on the equalizer?

i find the power amp equalizer is more practical than the player pro one. i configured poweramp and player pro to suit my taste (equalizer setting wise) but power amp just sounded better.

player pro's interface is a killer thing though! agree.

huh? why would you say that? Rebecka Black is a hottie. I'd tap that and do the jailtime!

Player Pro on one hand, PowerAmp on the other hand...which one do i taaaaaake?

I didn't look at player pro, and I don't listen to music very much, but after trying poweramp, I bought it.

So only thing going for Player Pro is better UI and more efficient at grabbing album art? I'll stick to Power Amp since I don't care about album art and it does everything I need of it. I also don't find the UI horrendously ugly since all I use is the (bare) widget to control my songs. The bolded statement is enough of a reason for me to pick Power Amp.

Will give Player Pro a go though :) Question, does it sort by folders on the SD card since that's how I organize my playlists.

Thing I like most about player pro is the ability to skip songs using the volume buttons, perfect when out and about and not convenient to keep taking my fone out my pocket. Not sure if poweramp does this?
Also I can never be bothered tagging music so I always play from folders rather than album, artist or playlist and found player pro to be the best for doing that.

I am pretty sure powerAMP can do that also. I think
