I'm looking for an app (honestly it should just be a setting somewhere, but I can't find it and don't think it exists so here we are) that will restrict the ability to turn on or turn off the phone screen to the power button ONLY.
I find it maddening the number of different events that will turn my phone screen on. Working in the yard, wearing gloves and listening to headphones, I get a text message or a call or any of (apparently) a hundred things and my phone becomes a random pocket button push machine. This happens all the time; certainly I can't be the only person who puts his phone in his pocket and listens to music! Ditto getting out of the car. Listening to Pandora or whatever over Bluetooth with a power cord plugged in, I get home, pause the audio and shut the screen off. I turn off the car: the screen comes back on when the bluetooth signal is lost. I turn off the screen again. I unplug the phone: the screen comes on again. This is even worse when I haven't bothered to take the phone out of my pocket; once again it's screen on, dialing or whatever.
Sheesh! Surely somebody can solve this issue! I've set the screen lock to a pattern, tried a fast timeout: it's still exasperating.
