Power Button doesn't work!

My dad got me a new phone (AT&T Samsung Galaxy S) and it worked fine until recently. The power button doesn't work and it's been acting funny for a while. Is there any other possible way to turn it on? I really need it because it's how I keep in touch with my mother when I am not home.
 
If you got it within the past year it's still under warranty. Bring it into an AT&T store. the only other way of turning it on would be by using a Samsung Jig, That brings you into download mode. You cancel that and it boots normally. Then you pull the battery to turn it off. Having it fixed is much easier.
