Power button fell off

I was out and about tonight and I pull my phone out to check the time, and the silver part of the power button was no longer there! Luckily I can still turn the phone on, as the silver part is just the tip of the power button.
Anybody know if the silver piece can be obtained from Moto? I'll try the live chat with them tomorrow.

Anybody else had this happen?

That's crazy! It probably just glues on there, I'm sure Moto will send it right out.

It's ludicrous to doubt the build quality of any product from the experience with one device (or a handful of them). Of course not every single unit out of 10's or 100's of thousands, or millions, of mass-produced units made will be perfectly manufactured.

I had a live chat (sounds dirty!) with "Rez" last night. It (could be a he or she :P) stated that the power button alone wasnt available from Moto, lame. So, I'll head over to Sprint this weekend to see about a replacement. I never had any issue getting a replacement with my Pre, so hopefully this is just as painless.
IF I get a replacement Photon, is it still recommended to do a factory reset once I get the phone? I'll have to DL all my apps again that arent saved to my SD card I assume. Not a huge deal, just small inconvenience.

It depends on whether or not they can fix it in store, or if they'll just give you a replacement model. If they replace it, you might as well do a factory reset before you add anything to the phone. They'll probably have done so already, but it never hurts.

Once you get it fixed, take a look at Otterbox cases -- they do an AWESOME job of providing thick, solid buttons on the outside of the case that pass through to the real button on the inside. If you've ever had a Seidio case (like the ActiveX for the Epic4g), you know what a case with sloppy button push-through feels like. Otterbox isn't like that -- it's rock-solid and precise. I'll go so far as to say that with the Photon, it's easier to press the buttons when the phone is inside an Otterbox Defender than it is to press them on a bare phone.

Ive tossed around the idea of a case. I had both a Seidio and then an Otterbox case for my old Pre. I loved both of them but the Otterbox was more robust. I eventually ditched it because it made the phone a tad bulky. I'll visit the Sprint store on Saturday then go from there. If I get a replacement I'll likely get a case for it :)

Thanks for the suggestion!

Well good news! Took it to the Sprint store (same one I went to when I got my Pre replaced), and Im getting a brand new Photon. They said they could wait for the part to fix it or just give me a brand new one, and I took the latter of the two. It will take some time to get everything back on the phone (some things wont stay saved to my SD card) but that is a minor detail. I may pick up an Otterbox case as well (a guy there had a Photon with one and I liked it).

Interesting and good news :D

Got my brand new Photon yesterday. Got my SD card transferred but I had to re DL all my apps, which I figured I would. Did a factory reset as soon as I got home. All is well and I am quite happy. Debating on an Otterbox case now....

:)

My silver power button fell off as well. I was in Florida for the past couple of weeks and it was rather hot and humid... so I attributed that as to why it just fell off. *shrugs*

Not a big deal though... I'll head to Sprint when I have the time and patience. lol

Yeah, luckily the actual power button still works, just the silver piece fell off. On my old Palm Pre the power button got stuck so I couldnt turn it on or off! I had to go into the phone menu to turn it off and plug it back into my computer so it would power on :)
Pretty cool they gave me a brand new phone.
