Help Power Button working / but not....

Hi all

Long story short (ish), my Wife left her S2 in her pocket and it ended up in the washing machine. I took it out and dried it, and put it in a bag of rice for a week.

I switches on and boots up!!!!

Problems are, it doesn't pick up the sim card, the screen time-out and switches off but then switches itself back on and off the whole time.

The strangest problem is the power button, it doesn't work when i have booted the OS, BUT.... if i pull the Batt and put it back in the phone doesn't switch on automatically, so i press the power button and it immediately switches on the phone, so the physical button is working!

This is leading me to believe that there is now a severe software problem, so i want to reload the rom and see if it helps.

But, the usb wont pick it up for odin to flash, and when i boot into recovery, the power button stops working to select sd card install.

Anyone got any suggestions, i really dont want to throw the phone away, and cant get a new one for the next 2 years....

thanks in advance...

I'm afraid to say that after a thorough soaking in a hot washing machine cycle there is really very little hope of this phone recovering, in spite of the steps you took after the event to dry it out.

The symptoms of the immersion in water that you are already witnessing will, if anything, increase as corrosion sets in.

Your problem is not a software one but rather the hardware which has obviously received severe water damage.
