For some unknown reason my power key of Samsung galaxy ace duos has stopped working from yesterday(11th may 2014)....I am very careful with my phone....the sets I had before did not have any problem(though they were feature phones)...but now*sigh* its not even a year old :( and I don't have any insurance....I googled my problem but I can't find good solutions...yeah there r solutions like switching off the phone by taking out d battery n then putting it back n stuff like hat but I don't wanna take risk....coz I am apprehensive that if it doesn't work my dad is not going to buy me a new one...so any alternative suggestion?except that taing out d battery...will a hard reset solve the matter?will be grateful if someone helps me come out this problem....
Thanks in advance

Hello and welcome to android Forums. My name is SolApathy & I will be assisting you with your question submitted through the guest “ask a question” service! We would like to welcome you to our forums; we look forward to assisting you today!

If it is a physical issue then you are limited in what you can do. As a parent if you had this phone and you showed it to me I would get you another phone (or get that one repaired) if I could see that you had taken care of your device. Unfortunately, things fail. It’s a fact of life and it does not always mean you were mistreating the device. There are several options for dealing with power button issues (work-arounds) and a google search (like the one here): Galaxy Ace series- Power button will go through a list of those alternatives. Some of them involve rooting (and would be unwise in your situation since you could potentially make matters worse, or opening the device and repairing it). Best advice. Tell your parents if you treated the device right. Things break.

I hope this answer has assisted you with your issue! Please note that if you have any questions you can easily resubmit another question using the same “ask a question feature” and one of our staff experts will quickly assist you.
