Power Manager _ Don't update!!!!!

I woke up this morning to see there was an update on Power Manager the update says that it's to fix bugs. Well it's to upgrade the program to a trial version because they have started charging for it. So if you want to keep it free then DON"T UPDATE!!!!!

Yeah, that's kinda shady.

I only use Power Manager for Battery Info (also in Service Viewer package, which is still free) and applying profiles manually (since the monitor costs me about 20% of battery life a day). If there is an app that can set up profiles the way PM does but not necessarily with running the battery-draining service, PM will getting uninstalled.

At least Useful Switches is still free with an option to donate. If Power Manager were set up the same way, I might have. Now we'll never know :)

Yeah and this is not the only app to do that either... seems to be a trend and I'm not digging the shaddy practice of trying to make you believe it is a so called update when it's really a downgrade! If I didn't back up my apps I would be really pissed... think we need to start a list of apps that are doing this so no one gets screwed with the downgrade scam....

so just to name a few:

RINGO
PINPONG
PARKMARK
BREAKTHEBLOCKS
POWERMANAGER(Obviously)

Does PM really drain battery that bad? That is sorta ironic.

If that is the case, I'll turn off the monitor service too.

Last night I decided to support his
"financial problems" or something like
that in the update yesterday with
my 99c purchase.
I only hope now that he's rolling in dough
that there will be updates on the program.

Try it... that was my experience. Took me two weeks to figure that out. :|

Checkout the website (check the market for it, i cnt remember it). He has the old APK up there still for free.

FAQ on author webpage says
4) Does running power manager drain additional battery life while using it? No, power manager is asleep almost all the time. Android only wakes up my application if the phone is awake and the power state changes somehow (e.g. battery level dropped a point, someone plugged the phone in, etc.)

Upon disabling monitoring, I end my workday up 20% from where I did when I was using it. It was one of many apps I'd installed so it took a while to figure out that was what was doing it. I continue to experience better battery life since disabling monitoring. Quoting a FAQ does not change my experience.

Nor mine, when I first used power manager, I found my battery drain increased so I uninstalled it. Without using it, I can still manage 2 days on my battery, or 1 whole day with very heavy smurfing on the interweb.

Maybe conflict with some other app ?
Not necessary like PM, but with access to some options when used.

if you upgraded, you can still download the previous version by clicking on the link to his site in the market and there will be a link to the the free version.

How do you actually install an APK?
Check the market for "AppsInstaller". Also, i removed PM cause it started irritating me with its ugly icon (Triangle) I like to manage my own phone.

Sorry for reviving an old thread but since I am the developer of two of the games mentioned here I thought I would weigh in on the discussion

When I originally released BreakTheBlocks Lite on January 25 I called it "BreakTheBlocks Lite", in the description I said that the full version would be released later and it would cost money. The "Lite" version has always been that, a level limited demonstration. It is still available for free, and contains 10 levels.

PingPong got a huge update in February, and for a short time PingPong Lite was level limited. It has been changed back to unlimited levels to match the behavior of the original free pingpong released in December.

Neither of these apps went to "trial" status, "BreakTheBlocks Lite" has never had functionality taken away and the limited restrictions in "PingPong Lite" have been removed so now you can play an unlimited number of levels again for free.

Personally I just use Useful Switchers and turn everything off that I don't need. When I need it I turn it on. I did give that power app a try and thought this was a bit much since anybody can just turn things on and off at will without having an app do it for you automatically.

I personally use Astro and just have it backup all my apps and or mybackup pro so when I backup my apps and if they go pay I'll just reinstall the free version. I keep them on my home network so I can reinstall them as I need to. Sure some apps are well worth the money and I will pay for them and well some are cool, but ....................

Does this mean that the free trial that appears to still be available does not have a 3 day limit?
