Power saving

Hi there. Wanted know if anyone turns the regular power saver off on their phone, and uses a power save app instead.
I tried a handful of apps without thinking about it and realized my built in power saver was on by default, so the effects of the app were probably schewed.
I know there are endless debates about whether or not power savers even work, but I was hoping this thread would specifically address turning the built in power saver on or off in conjunction with an app and/or if you notice the app performing better than the built in saver as far as keeping the phone snappy, etc.
Thx!

Hi,

I have never used a power saving app because most threads I have read tend to equate them to snake oil. But, logically, an App which has only user land access to the hardware will never be able to out compete the operating system. Android is usually quite good at managing battery vrs performance, however if you want to be more strict you can enable developer options and limit the number of apps that can run simultaneously. This will tip the battery/performance balance one way or the other so use with care.

The biggest battery drains will always be the CPU (number of running apps) and the screen. If the screen is off and the phone is sleeping your battery will live for ever (10 days was my record with the stock battery). The more you use it the faster the battery drain. This is why I have a charger at work, in my car and in most rooms of my house. I use my phone a lot, but it charges fast enough for me ;)

Regards,
Eric.
