Pre-Orders

I know people I saw the date too. Updated email from Verizon. Here's the update. Just thought it was fun to see the progress (and the ridiculous excitement we get over a phone). She's on the way and just received my screen protector and new silicon TPU case. The top and bottom of the case and the corners are just like normal but along the sides its trimmed down about 2/8th of an inch to accommodate the edge screen. You could easily drop the phone on the screen sideways. But you can lay it face down since all 4 corners protrude out so that might help in a drop. That's it.

^ hmm I have yet to recieve an email from Verizon but I did get 2 text messages from them 1 last n ight and 1 today saying it was shipped. But when I click on the link they sent me it just takes me to a normal Verizon wireless page. Oh well. I'm sure I'll get mine come Friday. Already received my case and screen protector as well.

Edited: Ahh found my info. Seems like FedEx already has it and will start moving it tomorrow and arrive Friday. Here's to hoping it arrives before 2pm on Friday so I can set it up and play with it all night at work Friday.

WOW. So close.

I was in the next town up the interstate so I stopped at Sam's Club and offered my lucky $2 bill to the phone guy if he would sell me my Note 7 today, saving me a trip back up there Friday. Didn't work :p

As it turns out, he said he was getting ready to call me to set up an appointment to come get it. I told him I'd planned to be there Friday when the doors open at 7 AM... he said that appointments start at 8 AM and they only had FOUR Note 7s in stock... and I was number SIX on the pre-order list! We went up front to the secret phone locker and looked at the four Note 7s in stock. I saw the boxes, sitting there, teasing me. But all four were Sprint phones!

So here's hoping a YUGE shipment of Verizon Note 7s comes in either tomorrow or Thursday. I told him I wanted the 8 AM appointment. We'll see what happens.

So, not sure if you guys have seen it, but many pre-orders from T-Mobile and Verizon have been getting tracking numbers (myself included, for my T-Mobile pre-order).

That said, estimated delivery was today, but I kinda balked/laughed at that because I knew that it wasn't happening, based on other stories I've read, as well as other forums. In any event, I just need to get the phone by Friday, so that my IT guy can help me remove email from my Priv and we can swap identification to my Note 7, as my work phone cell contact. All the phone set up and everything else, I can do on my flight, Friday night.

I'm just happy that I have a tracking number and now it's just a matter of waiting until the package is actually with UPS and is marked as shipped. Until that happens, I'll just wait patiently. I was told that all T-Mobile orders are being shipped overnight shipping, so I'm not too worried about getting it before or on Friday.

Yeah my phone has had a tracking number since yesterday (or maybe even late sunday night), and it has moved to 3 different places, but has been stuck at the same place since yesterday. I assume they were told to hold them until tomorrow then move them out on the 2 day shipping to arrive on Friday. Sucks to know it is purposefully being held for an artificial date, but that's part of the game I guess.

I do have all my accessories on the way from Amazon, most of it will be here Thursday, the tempered glass screen protector Friday, the same day the phone arrives.

Nope. Still waiting for some audio reviews , plus I practically just got the HTC 10. There is a such of thing as "too much of a good thing", ya know. ;)

Speaking of reviews, I did see one review that mentioned the speaker and audio and said it was the one thing about the phone the reviewer found subpar. That stinks to hear. My N4 has pretty decent sound, but other companies have been making phones with better speaker(s) than Samsung puts in theirs for quite a while. I usually use a BT speaker set up anyway, but sometimes it is nice to have a loud, clear speaker on the phone when you don't have a BT speaker or just don't want to use one for a short period of time. I think speakers on the back of the phone work better as they reflect off the surface of what the phone is laying on (most phones lay on their back) and it seems to amplify the sound. We all know the N7 has it's speaker on the bottom, not the back, and I expect it won't be quite as good as the setup on the N4. We will know soon!

I think that was the Android Authority review, but can't remember since I've watched a few today.

That's actually one part of phones, especially on reviews, that I never pay attention to. As long as I can hear the phone ring when it's in my pocket, I rarely care about how the speakers sound. If I want to listen to music from my phone, it's either through bluetooth earbuds or via chromecast or bluetooth speaker.

It's almost unfair to nitpick manufacturers for the phone's speaker quality, considering the multitude of options that would prove to be way better than any connected phone speakers. It's like if TV reviewers were to do the same thing with the speakers built into the TV's! Seriously? Anybody that actually/truly cares about great quality audio (whether music or watching movies), they're not showing any concern about the actual TV speakers. That's why Soundbars became so popular because they were "less complicated" than home theater amps/speakers.

I also have the GS7edge with the speaker on the bottom and I am a little disappointed in how (not) loud it gets. I have the Note4 as well as the GS6edge and both were much louder. I was told that it was because of the IP68 water resistance that makes the speaker not as loud due to the seal. I suspect the Note7 to be the same. It doesn't have anything to do with the fact that there are better options for audio - It's annoying when you're trying to play something for others to hear and it's not entirely quiet and it't also hard to hear from the phone.

That was what I was thinking - the IP68 rating may effect the speaker quality somewhat. I'd rather have IP68 than a louder speaker as long as the speaker is at least good enough for the few times a person needs to use it in lieu of a BT speaker setup.

Damn! I haven't received any emails or tracking #'s confirming my shipment. Oh, that's right - I didn't pre-order the NOTE 7 due to it's lackluster improvements/features [Yawning - Stretching!]. I'm definitely going to pass on this one. I look forward to the NOTE 8 speculation threads.

Lucky $2 bill? I find that it takes Benjamin Franklin to connect the kite with lightning this day in age.

I'm confused. If it was shipped August 17 (tomorrow) how could it be arriving today (August 16)?

i did the same preorder with tmo... called this morning to get clarification rep said they dont even have the phones in yet...but i should have it fri...

It's surprising how many people these days have either forgotten about the $2 bill or don't believe there is such a thing. Works wonders at yard sales, where I can bargain a lot down to a $2 bill. I often leave them as tips because they're memorable... and young folks look at me like, "is this real?" Yeah, like I'm going to risk prison time counterfeiting a $2 bill :p

How many $2 bills do you have???? No wonder they are uncommon; it's because you're hoarding them!

You would be surprised... I have a huge stack of them. All you have to do is walk into a couple of banks and ask if they have any... some won't have any, maybe one or two. But the credit union branch in the next town asked me how many I wanted. I replied, "How many do you have?" and their response was "as many as you want!" They had close to 400 bills! So I bought like 250 of them, and I've been working off that stack for months :)

That's pretty cool - I don't think I've ever seen a huge stack and I think I've only had as much as 2 in my possession at any time. :)

Have you gotten a chance to hold or use the phone in person? There is nothing lackluster about the N7. Biggest jump in improvements in a phone I have ever seen. Sure, it would have been nice to have the 821, 6gb ram, etc, but overall this is a very large step forward IMHO.

I have a lucky one that I keep in my wallet!

No, I haven't, but the feel of a phone has never given me goose bumps because I've always had the thermoplastic covers on my phones - I drop alot (never damaged one yet!). I'm not liking that faux edge design especially since I'm sure my covers have saved damage by coming up and slightly over all 4 sides. I do agree that the NOTE 7 is probably the best phone on the market but it's newest features are really not anything groundbreaking for me compared to phones that have given me reason to upgrade in the past (ie., greatly increased resolution, larger display size). The NOTE 7 is just not enough of a techno marvel for me. Something like 4K would have maybe tickled me to upgrade.

Jeez, you and Chief sound like $2 Bill preppers for the day when they come to an end. :D

Yeah, I sort of had a similar experience once, asking a Teller how many $100 Bills she had. She also said "As many as you want!". I thanked her, turned around, and left the bank empty handed.
