Pre rooting questions.

A back up seems like a great idea, while I understand that it is ultimately up to me, and that ratings do mean something regarding the quality of a app.
Sometimes the masses do not always recognize quality.

My PC runs Ubuntu 16.04.0

I would appreciate a couple of quality options for a back up, and which app to actually root with.

Thanking you in advance

I do not know about anyone else, but I try not to rush, when it seems important.

so there is not much as far as backup goes for non rooted phones. you can back most of your app data thru google. you can save you pictures thru google pics or save them on your pc. and the same goes for music & videos.

so @Dannydet linked to a place where you should always go to get your root on. they are the best community of devs in the world.

here i believe this is the guide you want:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel/how-to/guide-root-android-o-dev-preview-1-pixel-t3591548

let us know if you have any questions. and please read, read, then read some more, ask questions here, and then............get your root on!!!!!!!

Thank you, everything that can be synched, and backed up is, and I also have the photo's and music in their own separate file on the PC and its back up,

What I am hearing is that you can not back up the rotted pieces, utill you root it.

I appreciate that. I guess I misread the MAKE a backup. Back it up , after you root, yet before you start changing things, was the part that I missed.

Thank you very much.

That greatly simplifies things...

yeah once, you are rooted. there are many ways to backup your phone. once rooted i would use twrp recovery to make a nandroid backup and have it saved on your sd card. after that i would also download and install titanium backup. this basically backs up your apps and data.

Thanks ocnbrze. I thought that maybe the panic button was bigger than it needed to be. Then again, fire IS hot.
Yet it is such a useful thing, fire.

Hiya @Mplsyrp !
I've moved your thread into the Android Devices forum to help out some more and in order to put it into the correct channel (pixel, pixel XL etc) what device do you have exactly? Sorry I'm not that up to date on identifying a device with the info you posted in your OP :(
