Help preparing for my s3

I have looked at around and really didnt find anything. i know i saw something somewhere but i forget where so here it is:

My S3 is on its way and I want to get everything all ready for an easy switch over from my commando to the S3.

I use go sms. have texts i want to save and most have pictures. i found a backup app but it says no pics/videos or sound files and it backs up to my sd card. is there another app i can use?

Will i be able to just pull out my current sd card and plug it right into the S3. old is on GB. i have apps installed on it along with a little music and a lot of pics. i plan on getting a bigger sd card soon.

i dont have a problem downloading all the apps again.. actually wanna test that new 4g speed :) so i dont really need anything here and they are listed on my play store acct.

i use the vzw backup assistant. and i think maybe googles not sure forget where to check. been awhile.

i think all my calender stuff will transfer over since its linked to google cal. so think im good there also.

is there anything else that i will need to do to prepare for it.. im sure i am leaving something out.

thank you in advance

No don't plug your SD card straight into your S3; copy what you want onto your computer, let the S3 create its file structure on the card then copy your data into the relevant locations it has created.

As for backing up your images, did you not save them to the gallery?
