President Donald Trump...

In which case, I ask for substantiated figures about those alleged "rapes and pillages".
How about my friend who works in healthcare telling me about the women coming in after being savaged and there are now a cpl blocks/streets labeled "no go zones for Americans". No, she can't release numbers and detailed info but her information has always been accurate. In fact, the hostility rate got to the point she actually moved away from that city, giving up a high paying job in the process. I was considering moving out there, hence my visit. Screw that, I changed my mind after a visit to the grocery store. If you seen the way they were looking at ppl and acting, you'd have been on guard too.

Kinda like the (completely spurious) "no go zones" reported about Birmingham in the UK?

Hmm.. Lemme put it like this, do you live on or near any sanctuary places getting flooded with Syrians? There are quite a few in FL and I live close to almost all of them. In fact, not just cities but whole counties.. So if you're not in or around the areas, your opinions are really wasted air in this matter. Most ppl don't believe in the dark side of humanity unless they're living it or in close vicinity, I'm just stating the obvious.

Blaming violent crimes on immigrants is an easy way to crank up the hysteria and bad feeling towards these people. Violence in communities is nothing new, and there have always been areas in cities which are no-go, if you don't know what you're doing.
Violent crime is nothing new. Don't blame it on immigrants.

Ok... EVERYONE STOP!

I'll say that again just in case you didn't hear me.

Before you reply to this thread, I'd just like you to take at least half an hour at the link below. Your Media is lying to you and the other people on this thread... or at the very least omitting the truth*

Now.. I'm going to ask you ALL to be grown up here.... don't follow the temptation to start cherry picking stories that
you can see are blatantly lies. DON'T immediately follow the link and look for ammunition to blast the opposite side.

Right, What I want you to do is look at the column that doesn't seem to align with your usual point of view. Pick 4-5 stories that you don't know about... and read them (scroll down the list if you need to). Now go off and using reliable news sources/reference materials/citations/ original source documents etc. find out if there is any truth in them**
Now, using the same standards that you applied to that material, do the same to something on the other side (the one that you support)

At the very least you'll have found out about something you didn't know...
.... and its a really clear demonstration of the filter bubbles we live in (Either social media, religious, newspaper, or just the friends that we surround ourselves with
... you'll also find out what those other strange people are reading
... I suspect you'll also have found out something about how the agendas of the media play out
... And if you can spot how one side of the political machine is manipulating you, you can cry foul if the opposite side is doing it too.

If you aren't in the USA, its still a useful exercise... I really want someone to do a United Kingdom version of this as well.

*a subtle but interesting difference
**Hint... if an article cannot be traced back to an original source/document, or says it comes from 'research' and doesn't say what that is, there is probably something dodgy about it....

GREAT article! My only complaint is that the links it's using are only the extremist,. clickbait-y ones; there's underlying bias in more mainstream publications too (although not of such a crazy variety... yet!).

You always have to consider the slant of what you're reading/watching if you want to form your OWN opinion.

Great link, Andy - thanks for posting!

PS their methodology is really interesting and enlightening in and of itself - well worth the read.

I was about to post something a bit long-windy in reply... then noticed you've beaten me to it in your last sentence.

I agree what you said about the more mainstream publications as well.... but for the purposes of the demonstration going to the extremes shows how much the 'political machinery ' and our various filters are skewing reality.

i would like to ask you to consider a different point of view...

is your family line from outside the USA? like 99.9% of us all... (hell, even the american indians migrated from asia, but the are the first).

my guess you are white.. so, your line would be from Europe.. maybe even Germany even Russia.
so when your great great ... parents.. came over... they would be immigrants...
how would you feel to learn that .. if durning the world wars...
they were treated the way you want to treat today's immigrants???

or they could be from Sweden or whatever.. but because they are different and speak a different language...
so, just lump them up all in the same ... cant trust an immigrant group!??

WikiLeaks founder: Obama admin trying to ‘delegitimize' Trump

upload_2017-1-2_20-56-20.png

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange says there's an "obvious" reason the Obama administration has focused on Russia's alleged role in Democratic hacks leading up to Donald Trump's electoral win.

“They’re trying to delegitimize the Trump administration as it goes into the White House,” Assange said during an interview with Fox News's Sean Hannity airing Tuesday night, according to a transcript of excerpts from the network.

“They are trying to say that President-elect Trump is not a legitimate President," Assange said during the interview, which was conducted at the Ecuadorian embassy in London where he has been staying.

"Our publications had wide uptake by the American people, they’re all true,” Assange continued. “But that’s not the allegation that’s being presented by the Obama White House.”

The sad part is that Trump's actions past, present, and likely future should delegitimize him without any help needed from outside forces, but there we have it.

I'll say it outright: he won and I won't dispute the process (unless any hard evidence should emerge). I will, however, continue to dispute his qualifications for the job (he has none), veracity (by his own admission he lied outright for votes), morals (admitting sexual assault isn't exactly a good place start), and ethics (just look at the reptiles in the swamp now!). That's before you even address his terrifying concept of acceptable "foreign relatiins" (Twitter really isn't a good platform for that, amusing though some may find it).

The man is a civic disaster, IMO, and that's before we even start talking about policies.

Bill and Hillary are going to Trump’s inauguration, too

Hillary Clinton will have a near-front-row seat to see Donald Trump sworn in as president of the United States.

Clinton will attend the presidential inaugural ceremony later this month with her husband, former President Bill Clinton, according to New York magazine.

Hillary Clinton lost the presidential race to Trump in an upset victory that most political experts did not see coming.

It’s customary for ex-presidents to get invitations to the festivities, and the Clintons will be joined by President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, and President Jimmy Carter and his wife, Rosalynn.

Hack Attack on Drudge Report a Sign of Chaos to Come

The popular right-leaning web portal, The Drudge Report, was briefly knocked offline last week. Incidents like this will only become more common until policymakers or tech companies get serious about fixing connected gadgets, also known as the internet of things (IoT).

In a since deleted post, the site’s verified @Drudge account on Twitter posted last week, “Is the US government attacking DRUDGE REPORT? Biggest DDoS since site’s inception. VERY suspicious routing [and timing],” as the International Business Times reported.

The Drudge Report did not respond to a request Friday for more details about the suspicious timing and routing.

Traffic from the Drudge Report is gigantic. Similar Web estimated it saw 178 million visits in November and that almost 80 percent of that traffic was direct. In other words, rather than clicking over from Facebook or finding it in search, visitors typed the URL directly into their browser or they have it set as the page their browser opens upon launch.

Ford cancels Mexico plant. Will create 700 U.S. jobs in 'vote of confidence' in Trump

Ford is canceling plans to build a new plant in Mexico. It will invest $700 million in Michigan instead, creating 700 new U.S. jobs.

Ford (F) CEO Mark Fields said the investment is a "vote of confidence" in the pro-business environment being created by Donald Trump. However, he stressed Ford did not do any sort of special deal with the president-elect.

"We didn't cut a deal with Trump. We did it for our business," Fields told CNN's Poppy Harlow in an exclusive interview Tuesday.

The $700 million investment will go to the Flat Rock, Michigan plant to produce more electric and self-driving cars. Ford believes electrified vehicles will outsell gas-powered vehicles within the next 15 years.

OK.. I read the PDF a cpl different days and come to same conclusion: this is BS. I don't mean it as directed at anyone other than the person who produced this PDF to begin with. This was about supposed Russian hacking - there weren't any direct specifics to said breaches. Instead it gave a lot of detailed fluff having to do with a lot of nothing concerning data breaches, just (probable/supposed) intent. I'm not even a lawyer and this doesn't hold weight. It won't hold on the streets, it certainly won't hold up anywhere else. Intent or desire is not proof. If I'm missing something, please point it out but I don't feel you guys in Europe get all the stories. Just like we wouldn't get all of yours here. These supposed hackings were simply insider leaks by ppl who were shocked at the corruption. One guy died of multiple gunshot wounds on his way to State's Attorney.. No robbery, nothing taken. Clinton's hit list has expanded by just this election campaign alone.

As I'm sure you read in the report

Background to “Assessing Russian Activities and Intentions in Recent US Elections”: The Analytic Process and Cyber Incident Attribution “Assessing Russian Activities and Intentions in Recent US Elections” is a declassified version of a highly classified assessment that has been provided to the President and to recipients approved by the President.  The Intelligence Community rarely can publicly reveal the full extent of its knowledge or the precise bases for its assessments, as the release of such information would reveal sensitive sources or methods and imperil the ability to collect critical foreign intelligence in the future.  Thus, while the conclusions in the report are all reflected in the classified assessment, the declassified report does not and cannot include the full supporting information, including specific intelligence and sources and methods.

Well.. I do understand that but the most specific they got besides which days the Russians had meetings were used in the words "we & our".. It's bogus.

Now for some humor..

"Ford’s decision stemmed more from its long-term goals than the new administration or devotion to U.S. workers. The company aims to invest $4.5 billion in electric vehicles by 2020. (The company would not comment on the specifics of the 700 new positions.)

"We expect a big change in the next decade on not only the growing affordability,” Fields said, “but also the consumer acceptance of electrified vehicles.”

The Ford engineers, tasked with creating these models, work in Dearborn, Mich. — 20 miles from the Flat Rock assembly plant. Moving production to Mexico would have made their jobs harder, said Brett Smith, an auto analyst at the Center for Automotive Research in Ann Arbor."
