You know what... If the Whitehouse had released a statement along the lines of 'we're thankful to all the people who came to the inauguration, and we now start the task of making American great again for all Americans' that would have stopped all of the fuss.

They didn't even need to comment on the numbers, if they were down, and it was colder, and people didn't want to travel, and whatever, it doesn't matter at all.


What does matter though is the fact that they were so obsessed with trying to one up the last President, to the extent that they decided it was more important to lie about the numbers... And then double down on the lies.... And then blame the media for not believing the lies.


Still this could be a one off... And they may well prove that they do have integrity...

Personally I think Mr Trump will surprise everyone by responding to the petition about his taxes by releasing some of them...
 
It's funny in a way, that they're making an issue of the turnout. Why bother? We already know the American people are deeply divided, so the inauguration turnout is hardly surprising. But I'm more worried about the administration's attitude to the media. Much as I'm often not a great fan of the press, and the way they sensationalise stories, and in some cases, just outright lie. However, the freedom of the press is a fundamental concept in a democratic society.
 
President Trump made up to the CIA. He blamed the media. Know I know he supposedly is planning to de-fund the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities effectively killing any new PBS programming any higher than the local level but they've treated Trump most fairly as far as new services go. I honestly don't believe he can do much to big business media new services regardless of how he feels. What's he gonna do. deny interviews? That would just generate stories like "What is President Trump Hiding". I can't see that helping his administration in any way.
 
i was thinking this weekend.. watching our nation's riots and demonstrations against and for Trump.
what the hell is going on?

well if i was the POTUS.. and my number one goal is to make America Great Again.. and the nation is tearing itself apart... because of me...
i think.. i would step down...

dont you think .. if he stepped down now..
he would gain a lot of respect from the nation and the world?
 
I'm not sure if the team that he's got behind him, is aware enough of whats going on to stop him getting caught up in trouble that isn't his fault. Its quite possible that when he looks out of touch or tone deaf, its because his team has let him down.


The Cake thing is just a really stupid example of this... it really doesn't matter much in the scheme of things.... but it seems to be replicated by his media team, who really aren't helping at all....

I actually think he needs to stay on Twitter and keep the tweets coming. I certainly don't follow him but it's an important way to know what he's really thinking. The crap he puts on there shows where his head is really at, and that's scary but we need to know. Such a little man.
 
One of my primary issues with ... president trump ... is that to him, this is all a big competition, a one ups man, us vs. them. He doesn't care whats right or just, only that he's viewed as the big man on campus, the winner, the best.

This principle has divided our nation politically for too long. Dem vs. Rep, right vs. left, liberal vs. conservative. God forbid we realize each has it merits. God forbid we recognize there's good in both agendas.

If we are to ever be as "Great" a country as we can be ... as great of a human race as we can be, we have to get past the attitude of, "since it's their idea I won't back it, in fact I will fight it and hope it fails" regardless of if it's a good and just and rational and right for the people.

Yea I know, what I want is impossible.

Well they're not Capitalists like a lot of the rest of the world. What product does North Korea produce besides unrest? Cuba seems to be doing okay but Cuba has sugar and cigars. What does North Korea have that the world wants? I may seem to be drifting off topic here but it all fits into "Make America Great Again".

They both seem legit, although 'potus' does seems more official. Personally, I'm not ready to kvetch yet, still thrilled about the early intentions.

Trump says he will return the country to the people (Thanks Bane for the speech writing) But that's on the contingency that the people not be informed in any way. First the press conference where he specifically omitted questions from the main media outlets, then the closing of the National Park Service twitter accounts, then the FDA, EPA. He signs executive order after executive order (after the Republicans have complained the last 8 years about the far reaching power of the president to do so) with his room full of rich white men that have no grasp on the reality that is life for the average American. On top of that he has reopened the XL (Keystone) pipeline project. This is in his first 4 days in office.

So everyone, don't ask questions, don't open your eyes, just be spoon fed what the office of the president wants you to be fed, be happy and content because complaining or demonstrating (even peaceably) will end up in your incarceration and prosecution. Welcome to "MERKA". The good old boys network.
