Root Prevail not charging

Hey I have been having an issue for about a week where my Prevail is not recognizing the battery charger and as you can imagine its a bit of a problem. Have done everything I can think of including flashing a different rom but to no avail. Has anyone had this happen or know of a possible fix? Luckily i have 3 batteries and an external charger but would like to get this figured out.

Lol I have the same type of issue. Though mine comes from one of my kids getting ahold of it and putting it in their mouth. Mine picks it up half the time then sometimes it says it's charging when it's unplugged. Ill usually try different outlets and different chargers til it kinks itself out. I'm guessing it's more of a hardware issue. My suggestion? Get a new prevail

Tux I kinda figured but was hoping for maybe a software fix. Mine just quit one day and at first thought it was the charger but unfortunately not the case. Well I got this prevail for free so maybe I can find another "deal" lol on one.

Mine basically does the same thing. At first my solution was to use another battery and an external charger. But that battery failed. (Stopped holding a charge)

Luckily I found that if I use a charger with a higher amperage it will still charge. My n7 has a 2 amp charger, its the only thing that will charge my prevail anymore. Its definitely a hardware issue.

The external charger I have takes about 6 hrs to fully charge a battery and since I spend so much time on the net (only have my prevail) and tweaking/customizing, even with 3 batteries I can't even keep 1 of them fully charged as a backup. Will run through a fully charged batt in 3 hrs no prob.

Are you overclocked? If so turn it down. Also turn off 3g and GPS when not in use and turn your screen brightness down. That is a HUGE battery drainer.

No I'm not overclocked
I run through batteries cause I am steadily using the phone. I'm not working right now and have no life for the most part and ever since I learned about flashing a couple months ago I spend about every waking minute on the net, browesing playstore or flashing/tweaking phone. I fried the motherboard in my laptop so everything is done on my Prevail.

@LV. Went to radio shack today and bought a 3 amp usb wall charger and the prevail still wont charge
This was the only type I could find over 1 amp. Where did you get your external charger and does it take as long to charge as the one I have? My external I got with the 2 1800 mah batteries I bought on Amazon and even though the charger is a 800 ma output the charge time is rediculous!

FYI I can't tell any diff in usage time between the 1500 & 1800 mah batt. Not that I have put a timer on them.

I've got a wallcharger for both my Marquee and Prevail batteries. The only time I use the cable is when I hook it to the pc or charge it at night. I do use the car charger quite a bit though.

As for submersing yourself into the phone and Internet, i know exactly what you mean. I did that a lot before going back to school. I still get on here a good bit though. Lmao, hell...... It's almost 3am here and I'm laying in the bed on the phone with Tapatalk.
I've got class tomorrow and I need to get off here.

Well, I got a few hours sleep. Ever since chemo I can't sleep very well. Oh well, a little is better than non at all. I guess I'll lay here in bed and try again.

My 'external charger' is/was my extra prevail with a broken digitizer it actually charged quite fast. I could tether while the spare battery was charging, and it would be full by the time the phone reached ~40%

That is pretty cool. To bad the charging function is what's broken on my prevail otherwise it would be more of a consideration to get another prevail. Oh well I'm making due with it for now. With the Mokeemod flash and some system tweaks/ theming I have come to really like my Prevail.
