Root Prevail's Home, search, and Menu button not working?

The buttons on my mom's prevail aren't working any ideas? Also, would rooting and romming it solve the problem?

Maybe rooting it might solve problem. Also could be hardware issue, like the screen not working or something like that. Wouldn't hurt to root it and try a rom.

if rooting it don't fix it you might have to replace the lcd screen. if you have a warranty on the phone just ship it to samsung they'll fix it for free IF you have a warranty. if not they'll charge you like 40 or 50 bucks. I've had to replace mine before as i dropped it on concrete like 30 feet high lmao. look on ebay for a lcd screen for the prevail (some are like 10 bucks) and replace the screen. be very careful though because if you mess up one of the connector ribbons you'll go through hell trying to get her phone fixed.
