Prevent FB from intial contact syncing?

I have yet to set up my Facebook app, but am hesitant to sync it to my contacts due to some forum horror stories. Plus, all my gmail contacts are pretty populated with pics, etc. anyway. Will there be an option to prevent it from messing with my contacts when installing/setting up?
 
As soon as you open the facebook app for the first time, it'll ask you for sync options, either no sync, sync with current contacts, or full sync - just select no sync....
