Prevent permanent internet connection

How can I prevent my phone (X10 mini pro) to be conected to internet permanently ?
Can I configure it to connect internet only on my demand ? Is there any switch ON/OFF ?

Wow.... Im supprised.
Is that always necessary for Android to install another application to make so simple thing ?

Im using android since yestorday and I am more and more disappointed.
It looks to be simillar crap as iPhone

On Galaxy S (with froyo) I simply press power button long, there it shows a menu and I can toggle data mode. I just didn't know if it is the same on your phone too.

Settings -> Wireless and Network -> Turn off Mobile Data.

On my Froyo there's a connection management widget that allow me to switch on/off 3G Data while not under wifi. I don't know if it's a standard from Froyo or custom from LG
