Prevent phone from loading contacts to car?

Does anyone know a way to prevent the S3 from auto downloading the address book/contacts to a car through Bluetooth when it connects? (My car will not connect with the S3 and someone suggested this as something to try.) Thanks for any info you can provide.

Delete your phone from your car's bluetooth and delete your car from your phone's bluetooth.

Re-pair the device and you should get a popup that says something to the effect of "Your bluetooth device is requesting access to your contact list".

Check the box "don't ask this question again" and click "deny".

It's been a while since I have seen the screens/text boxes, so I'm sure I'm not wording it accurately, but it should make sense when you see it.

I'll give it a shot. Thanks!

For anyone having this problem - the advice above worked for me. The contacts message didn't always pop up, but it did the third time I paired/connected. The bad news is that I have to dial manually from the phone (and not the car), but at least it connects, stays connected and re-connects automatically when I get back in the car.

Why would you not want the contact information fit the car?

I'd love to have the contacts load, but this phone won't work with a 2011 BMW. It attempts to load contacts repeatedly until it just hangs up. If I skip loading contacts, the phone will pair/connect. It sucks that I have to use the phone manually to dial out, but that's the only workable solution that I've found so far.
