It kind of sounds like its probably over-heating from constant, prolonged use--a battery replacement is probably in order (i.e., you could/should probably check it for signs of expansion). Running your phone's camera and transmitting the image is probably akin to playing a game for a long time--I think these devices were really meant for shorter duration tasks.
Is the device hot to the touch? A (device/battery) temperature display app might help you compare the temp from a off/cold state to how warm it is when it's been running for a while.
If the battery is otherwise okay/good and it's still getting warm, perhaps directing a small fan at the device will help cool it off and allow it work for prolonged periods of time.
