Preventing hacking using wi-fi router.

Hello! I am a new member and would like to learn more about Androids using these forums... I have an HTC Inspire. I like it because it is big, but a little too big to use with only one hand and typing with your thumb. The battery always lasts me about a day, which is good enough for me. I have heard that some people are not satisfied with its battery life. I just realized that this is an introduction forum and not a technical forum so let me know if I should post the following question in which appropriate forum.
Thanks!

I just have one question....

If I had my two computers on a private wi-fi router using ethernet cables, and I wanted to use the wireless router part ONLY for my android (HTC Inspire), can the computers or the Android be hacked?

My computers would not allow for file sharing on a network...... Using the security settings that are provided by the router, including a secret password, is the system at all vulnerable to hackers? Thanks

Hello and welcome to Android Forums! :)

It's no more likely to be hacked with the wifi enabled then without, as long as you have a strong security protocol. Use WPA/WPA2 and set a complex password and you will be just fine.

Welcome to the forums - thanks for joining.

On top of what Lunatic has said, I think you can set your router up to not broadcast it's SSID, which would mean that anyone who wanted to hack your network would have to know it's name on top of the password, etc.
