Help Previewing ringtones???

On every other phone I have had, when you go into select ringtone and scroll up/down through the ringtones, it will play the ringtone that you have selected, so that you can hear what it sounds like so you can decide whether or not to choose it.

On my Desire HD this does not happen. As I scroll through the ringtones it remains silent, and to test out the ringtone I have to go back to the Audio menu and change the ringtone volume which gives the preview. Extremely frustrating when you want to listen to a bunch of ringtones and then select one.

Is this just a software fault or is there a setting I can change?

Check your phone. Its probably on Silent. I get a preview of the ringtone when i scroll down.

Lol... the phone is not on silent... So I have a fault?

The phone is also changing settings on its own. The one it changes the most is vibration feedback when pressing the buttons at the bottom.

Go to Menu > Settings > Sound > Volume, and make sure that the "Media" volume is turned up.
