Help Pricing? WIFI?

Any ideas on price or if it will have wifi. If it is comparible to the Xoom, I may choose it. Although I wouldn't use the 4g in alaska

It will have WiFi, but no idea of pricing. We should see pricing in next few weeks as it is rumored to release in March.

Will it have a GPS? I am interested in getting a tablet that has GPS so I can still do Google mapping.

i havent seen GPS yet but i would assume it has it. I am looking heavily at this over the xoom now i think

yes it will.
I wish it had a regular usb port, but besides that it looks good.
I hope it won't be overpriced because of the 3d - at the end all we care about is a good honeycomb tablet.

If you have a link to a spec sheet that points out GPS - that would be great. I can't find it. If so - this could be the tablet for me.

There is no official spec sheet yet - in fact we don't know if it has a micro usb slot or not.

In most websites, including PhoneArena - very realiable - it says GPS and I don't see why it shouldn't since Google Maps was demoed.

Here is the link:

Where are you located? Did you get it through a store or online?

Um, look at my username.

Got it via a phone order. Say you have coupon code GSLATE100 and get another $100 off. Free shipping and they waived the activation fee. Got the 200MB data plan because I will mainly use WiFi.

Well I suppose that I could guess Arizona USA, but since this site has people from all over the world on it that wouldn't help most people. I was mostly interested in seeing if you were in the US. T-Mobile is of course in the UK and Europe so I suppose you could be in a lot of places.

Since no one else has jumped in to ask, what ports does it have? What's the charging port (Micro usb?) I don't recall if the G-Slate has a card slot or not.

Yes USA.

micro USB for computer connection (and slow charging), and mini-HDMI out. Also has, in the box, a dedicated charger for another charger connection on the side. Also has a standard headphone/earbud jack. On/Off button, volume button, everything else is in the OS. Photo and video quality is quite good, tested both this weekend. It's very fast. 32GB built in. No memory card slot. But I loaded 100 apps and it barely used a GB or 2 so PLENTY of space for photos/music/movies etc... I like Android 3 so far, take a couple of minutes to figure things out but I like it. The form factor has a nice benefit that its narrow enough in the vertical that you can hold it with one hand, grasping the sides with your thumb and pinky. Also can be held one hand like a book in horizontal mode pretty easily. There are some great tablet enhanced Apps in the market. Hopefully more coming. Most apps I use worked fine. A couple didn't - aren't honeycomb ready. Google Maps/Earth etc...look stunning on this thing. Would make a great NAV/Map program for in the car.

Considering there are already two well built and featured tabs (A500 and Transformer) that cost a lot less, does this device not seem profoundly overpriced?

Yes it does. They must have based their pricing on the Xoom. Get this out the door for low $400's and allow shorter contract terms and it becomes a great deal.

My guess is this device will sell even worse than the Xoom has, so far.

I'm planning on hitting a T-Mobile store today to try one out and ask what kind of feedback they are getting on price. Plus I'd like to touch the hardware and see if i like it. 10" screen it too big for me, I'm hoping the smaller screen fits my needs a bit more.

They still have the Galaxy Tab and the Streak, so they have to keep the prices spaced out a bit, but they really are pushing it.

I did notice on their site they they have switched it to $220 instant discount, previously it was $120 instant, and $100 mail in. So perhaps they have already started to get wise and make it a better deal. I also received an email that offers 20% off a data plan. They might actually make it a good deal if they can figure out another $100 discount in there.

UPDATE: They didn't even have a demo model at the T-Mobile store in Tyson's Corner Va. When I called last week they said they did, I'm guessing that the person who answered the phone didn't really know (or I ended up calling the wrong store).

Just got to handle a G-Slate returned at a T-Mobile store. It's nice, although it's heavier than I thought it would be. It wasn't connected so I couldn't really test it out. I didn't dig very deeply into it since I only had a moment, but it's stock android so no surprises there.

The screen looked fine, but I think I'm really going to want a 7" tablet for portability. Won't do me any good unless I can bring it to meetings etc.

If anyone is in the Tyson's Corner area and wants to check one out, there is a small T-Mobile store on Rt 7, just West of International Dr (8150 - north side of 7) that had one as a return.
