Prime vs. Galaxy Tab

I had pretty much decided to get the Prime, but am having difficulty actualy finding one (I'm guessing it has to do with Asus not shipping them until they have the new backs ready). Now I see that Woot Sellout has a refurb Galaxy Tab for $300.

So...is the Prim that much better than the Galaxy that it's worth waiting for, plus spending the extra $200? I have to admit...I do really like the idea of the keyboard down the road.

So...convince me to wait on the Prime and not jump on the Galaxy tab.

once you get a tablet with a keyboard you will never get another tablet without one lol, the keyboard charges the tablet so yo can enjoy your tablet for the day without chargers.
but the galaxy tab does have a nice screen i played with one in best buy for 20 minutes, the transformer prime just does so much more then other tablets.

i grabbed a transformer prime at staples.com on monday, got it in my hands yesterday. they've been sold out for a while, but i kept checking their website and they got 10 in stock over last weekend.

I had a Sgt 10.1 last year in the summer and had the problems with the screen. I kept on getting the newtons rings, and after taking a 3rd tablet back to the store I took a refund and waited for the prime to come out. I'm so happy about this and although was £100 More expensive, I was able to sell the keyboard dock and also the spare chargers I had collected from all the returns to make up the extra.

The dock is sweet as. The tablet is much silkier, the possibility to context USB, HDMI and SD cards without having to get adapters etc is a huge bonus. If you don't mind the extra Mooney with the dock, its no contest as far as I'm concerned.

I think I've decided to stick with my decision to get the Prime. I just wish you all would quit talking about how sweet the keyboard is since I won't get that for a while.

Now if only Asus would ship a few units so I can find one....

Since the Prime was release, the BB in my area has never had them in stock. The display unit is still the old model.

Allegedly Stapelswas holding the last one in over a 50 mile radius for me, but the guy I talked to was a moron and they ended up holding an Acer and sold the Asus out from under me.

In a fit of boredom, I checked the BB stock on Thursday night. To my surprise, they had them in stock. I didn't get there until lunch on Friday, and they still had a few.

The associate didn't tell me how many they got in, but they had 6 left. As I was talking, another guy asked about it and we both bought one. As I was leaving, another guy was buying his. By Friday night, they were all gone.

Guess the secret got out. :D

Lucky dog. I have to wait until Tuesday or Wednesday for mine to be delivered. And I still half expect to get an out of stock email.

Looks like you've already made up your mind, but since I've owned both, I'll give you my take. I loved the feel of the 10.1; it was thin, very light (perhaps lighter than the Prime?). Very portable and had a beautiful screen. I really hated the TouchWiz they threw on top of HC though. Half the apps that were docked I didn't even use, so it was pointless. I can't believe it still hasn't been upgraded to ICS either (it's got the same specs as the Xoom).
I no longer have it since my wife dropped it and shattered the screen.
The Prime on the other hand, is a breath of fresh air. It's nearly a laptop replacement. ICS is much smoother (esp. when using Nova Launcher) and the lapdock is AWESOME! Seriously, if you can find one, pick it up.
Only downside is, for both, is it worth $650? I paid less than that for my (admittedly, crappy) Gateway Win7 laptop. Hope you enjoy it though, and don't be a stranger!

I actually picked up the last one they had at hh Gregg last night. Now I need to get it all configured and updated. Unfortunately the keyboard dock will have to wait a bit.

The Prime is slightly thinner and heavier:
Prime: 8.3mm thick, 586g
GTab 10.1: 8.6mm thick, 560g

Thanks, never looked up the stats. I knew it was the thinnest tab at the time, but it certainly felt thicker (perhaps the metal?).

Also, when/why did you lose your guide status?
