Private data loss.

Hi all,

Today evening, I went to see some old photos on my phone ( I had about 500 of them) and I notice there is only 31.....
Something happened and phone decided to delete everything.... The 31 pic is random, taken at different dates.

Also, out of 110 music tracks I have 10 left....

What could this be? I have recently installed few games like Worms, GangstarMV... and some others.....

What are your opinions? Would this be some kind of a virus in games? Is it possible to return my photos?

Thank you.

Do you have a file manager, for example Astro or Linda. Then you can have a good look on your SD card to see if you can find them. It may be that they are still there just not in the file that the phone is looking at.

From a personal point of view I hav only ever seen people lose images etc randomly is after a fw flash, and evn then only 3 times, myself included. In my case the files simply vanished from the sdcard. It was the same in the other 2 handsets I have seen this on, both directly after updating from 1.6 to 2.1.

It has never happened to me since, no matter how many times I have flashed the thing.

It may just be a coincidence, the timing, as a fw flash should not touch the sdcard.

Yes I have Astro, looked in DCIM folder, no pictures there...just 31 which I have left...
I noticed it when I connected my phone to PC to transfer some pics and there were only 31 :/

I did not flash my phone or update or anything, just installed few games which I think were the cause, because there is no other explanation:((((((

PS - By the way, my music is still there, so it's just photos missing:(

that happened to me also my pictures were lost and couldn't find them again....n i hve no idea where they gone...:|

Remove flash card out of phone and stick it in a computer that has one of those media readers and use a program that will recover lost information....usually works pretty good on pics.

Search the SDCard when plugged into your computer for *.JPG and make sure none of the applications moved your pics anywhere. And search for *.PNG too just in case.

I installed one camera app that had it's pics all being saved in one location, then after one update, that location changed.

Highly doubt any app removed your pics. You have done something. If the apps were the problem, then they would have a load of bad reviews on the market, and in turn, they wouldn't be on the Android Market anymore.

Check the dates on your pictures and when they have been last modified. In those 31 pics, how old is the oldest one? Is it the date the 500 went missing?

Do you leave bluetooth and leave it turned on? It is possible in theory to access anything over bluetooth and do anything to it...like your 500 pics.

i don't think so coz almost no one leaves his/her bluetooth on always. So no one can hack...::O

Are you using a 3rd party camera app? That sometimes puts photos in a different folder.
Have a look on gallery that shows all the images on your phone (it's quite annoying it shows all the album art on mine)

I will try the recovery through pc method if Ill find the access to card reader.

Yes, there was one program to do with camera but in mediascape it shows that I only have 2 folders. Andro (where all pics used to be) and retro camera folder which is a very old app I used in summer and all was fine.

I will check the date on pics and get back to you:)

Thanks for help guys.

I deleted about 75 percent of my pics on my old Canon digital camera and it was very easy to recover the deleted data off that SD card.

Hopefully nothing has been written to those parts of the SD card and you are able to recover those deleted pics.

Maybe something like this -

Undelete 360 download and reviews from SnapFiles

Some freeware program that recovers data from SD cards.

Very strange but I dont have a Gallery app. I do have android 2.1 update :/
My phone keeps playing with me :(

Would it be possible to run the recovery through the phone cable in data storage mode? Because I dont have card reader and dont know anyone who has to be honest.
