I would first try re-flashing to 2.3.

What do you mean by vibration mode? Do you mean the speaker and audio jack and volume buttons on the side don't work?

I would also suggest deleting the content on the SDCard before going from 2.1 to 2.3...especially if you didn't do a factory reset first.

All your 2.1 apps don't just import into 2.3. 2.3 is a new OS.

I would try a reflash first...that would probably fix it.

Basicaly i put the battery back in and hold down the power button and the green light comes on and then it starts bibrating. Theres no picture or anything on the screen.

How do we do a reflash to 2.2?

I went from the origional 1.1 to 2 i think.

Ive taken out the SD card as thats where ive stored all my contacts, photos etc. Should i put it back in and try?

Goto Sony's website and download SEUS or PC Companion.

Reinstall the software on the phone....install and chose repair.

You were either 1.6 and went to 2.1 or you were 2.1 and went to 2.3.

When you hold the power button down, it should do a quick vibration (keep holding power button) the green LED should flicker on and off (I think) and after a about 10 seconds the Sony Ericsson Logo should appear.

If that doesn't happen, make sure the phone does have full battery power.

When I upgraded from 2.1 to 2.3 it wasted about 40-50 percent of my battery power.

Ive got PC suite but i cant see a repair button. Ive just updated it to the latest version and its still doing the same thing.

The whole problem is when i hold down the power button it doesnt do a quick vibrate it keeps vibrating and doesnt do anything else.

I donno...there should be a way to repair using PC companion. Just go through the attempt of updating and if there is no update option, I thought it would want to repair.

I have PC companion and refuse to install it. What is weird is Sony also had an app called SEUS that used to be on there website. It does updates and repairs too. But can't find it on their website.....and another weird thing, is that SEUS updates...so they might use it internally at Sony.

Anyways. Easiest way might be to just flash to 2.3 using the x10 flashtool.

Get Flashtool and get 2.3.

I cant get it to work. Ive installed it but i cant get the programme to run. O well off to the phone shop i go tomorrow.

Weird. If it is under warranty, just get another.

If you would rather try and fix it.

Install x10 Flashtool.

Download x10i or a depending on what version you have....and EN for the english version.

Open x10 flashtool...chose to flash....chose file you downloaded and unzipped.

It will ask you to turn off the phone and start it in flash/recovery mode.

Remove battery, plug in USB cable to phone and PC, then hold back button and pop back in the battery, the message on the screen will disappear and it will say it is installing stuff....stop holding the back button...let it finish.

After 2 minutes or so it will be done flashing and it will tell you to disconnect the USB cable.

Restart the phone.
