problem receiving texts

I'm on my 3rd samsung captivate. for some reason the phone stops receiving texts. android support's answer was to put the sim card in another phone and wait till it starts getting texts, then put it back in the captivate. this works, but only for awhile (10 min - 3 days). Like i said, 3rd phone. anybody have this problem, or better yet a fix?
