I recently did the 2.3.4 firmware upgrade via Kies. Being a clever boy, I made a complete backup via Kies before upgrading.
After the firmware upgrade there were some issues with mixed languages and when trying to resolve this ended up wiping phone as the last resort.
Wiping should be no problem since I had backups. But....
Problem 1. Restoring back up failed almost at the end several times.
Thinking this was a Kies/PC problem I uninstalled and reinstalled Kies.
Problem 2. After reinstalling Kies, Kies does not recognize my backups as belonging to my phone. I have no problem connecting phone to Kies, but when opening backup/restore folder, Kies informs that no backups have been made. When opening a backup file, only media files can be restored. Personal Information and Settings are not available (grayed out).
I have reinstalled Kies, tried different computers, wiped phone several times, but nothing helps.
IS this a problem with restoring backups across firmware updates? Is this a Kies problem? Are there
