Help Problem sending MMS - generic network failure

clappo27

Newbie
Hey. I've seen this problem on a bunch of other android phones but nothing specifically for wildfire.

When sending MMS I keep getting a notification saying 'message not sent. generic network failure' until it eventually aborts altogether.

I think the problem is at least partly coz I'm using an unlocked vodaphone handset on orange, so the APN isn't properly configured.

Ideally can somebody with a Wildfire or similar model on Orange give me the correct APN settings from your phone? Or at least link me where to find them - it sounds like every other provider has the details on their website but can't find anything on orange.co.uk

Thanks

Thanks for that.

Do you have any problems sending MMS?

I was hoping I could somehow combine the settings of both APNs so I can send mms and use 3g without switching manually between them.

Some ppl on forums seem to think this is not possible, and others say they can do it.

Turns our orange do have a very helpful (unusual for orange!!) setup website with all the settings you need: Orange Setup

Hasn't solved my problem entirely, but at least I've found the site!

I've got both these APNs saved in the phone simultaneously. Can you not do that?

I must admit i've never even tried to send an MMS message but my phone arrived unbranded and unlocked and it's only ever had an orange SIM in it.

I think all my setting arrived by text within the first few hours of switching it on.

There is this help on orange website...

Orange - Frequently Asked Questions

There is a username and password listed there. maybe that's the key missing info...?

APN orangemms
User name Orange
Password Multimedia
IP address 192.168.224.010
Proxy (port) 8080
Home Page/MMS Relay Server http://mms.orange.co.uk

I can have multiple APN but I've been told I'd have to manually switch which was active in order to swap from using 3g to MMS or vice versa. But maybe I've been lied to.

Thanks for your help.
