Help Problem sending MMS messages

Hello, I am new to android I made the switch from the iPhone. Anyway, I am having a problem with picture messages on my S3, when I send a picture to a person via text message it takes hours to send and just says "Sending" how do I fix this? It's not my service because it does the same thing on wifi.

I am on Android 4.0.4 and no it is not rooted. I will try whatsapp and get back to you. Do you have any idea on what would be causing this?

EDIT: Just sent a picture via the "whatsapp" and it sent instantly so what do I do now to get it to work with the messenger on the phone?

i have honestly never sent a mms in my life i use whatsapp to send stuff or just email them. Try and see if there are any firmware updates available for the phone and try updating. Otherwise i know its a lot of hassle try doing a factory reset and see if it helps. Also try contacting sammy and ask them since ure phone is not rooted see what their tech department has to say also.

Who is your carrier?

Are you using a 3rd party text app like GoSMS or ChompSMS over top of the stock messaging app? I'd recommend using them as it still uses your regular texting but simply replaces the use of the stock app. Most of the 3rd party apps have message size limit options so certain carriers like Verizon that have size restrictions on MMS compress as needed.

Check your apn settings (android settings,more settings, mobile networks, access point names) match your carrier website / call centres apn.

Yeah I have been using Chomp for several years now because the stock message app just didn't cut it. Not enough customization and size limits on pictures and such. My only issue recently is that Chomp seems to be giving my GS3 some troubles. It randomly causes my phone to lock up when I open Chomp?? I have sent several emails to their DEV team over the last few months but received no responses so I guess it's just me :-( I am on a stock ROM, ROOTED.
