Help Problem texting emojis

I use messenger app on my new Samsung Galaxy 5. A week ago I mistakenly managed to change the setting and now can't send emojis. They show up when I add them to a text and then disappear after I send. The recipient does not receive them. Any ideas what I screwed up?
