Root Problem with Audiobooks -- Related to rooting / ROM?

I used to use Akimbo the audiobook player on my Optimus V, and it worked great! However, it's been over a year since I last used it successfully, and in the meantime I've rooted my phone and flashed the BACKside ROM (CM7) + Green Machine Theme (following the excellent guide provided in these forums).

I've been trying to use Akimbo the last couple of days, and I'm having trouble: it is unable to keep track of my position.

It will play the audio, but I can see that the counter is not incrementing with playback, and if I restart Akimbo it completely forgets where I left off. I've tried this with books that used to work just fine.

I've tried using a different audiobook player, and I find the same problem, which makes me wonder if, perhaps, theres something about this particular ROM that causes problem with audiobooks.

I've also tried multiple reboots.

Perhaps importantly, I use the m4b format that iTunes likes. I recall from when I first started doing audiobooks it took some searching to find a player (Akimbo) that could handle these, but now I wonder if this ROM makes it even harder?

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I wasn't able to solve this issue within the BACKside ROM, but over the weekend I installed BobZhome's ICS ROM, and now Akimbo works as it should. I suspect something was corrupted, or a cache needed cleaned out or something like that (I don't know what I'm talking about!), but the new ROM did the trick.
