Problem with contacts widgets on S3

I'm coming from the HTC Evo 3D and am trying to get an equivalent People widget (basically a 4x4 contact grid widget with pics). I've found a couple on the market (Android Widgets and People Widget), but neither seems to be working correctly. When I go into the Contacts app on the Galaxy, I can set up new groups (for example, I have a VIP group), but for some reason the group gets duplicated in the groups list on both widgets...weird. Then, when I try to select that group in the widget, it doesn't update correctly...contacts are left out and pictures aren't displayed. I've tried this with Favorites too, same problem. Basically I'm just getting all-around contact widget weirdness with this phone, was wondering if anyone has had the same or found a widget that works like HTC People does. Thanks all!

I too coming from a Sense enabled phone (OG DInc) am looking for a similar solution.

Going to the dialer app, then looking into contacts to find the list of favorites is just silly. Not to mention that you have to select the person, then decide what you want to do (Phone call, or text message, et. al.)

Having that matrix of people, with a default action for each, which could be different, was very nice.

While I have never used it myself, I always hear people recommending Beautiful Widgets to replace the HTC ones.... so that's my recommendation ;)

You could try circle launcher and set it up for your favorites. I've used that a lot. Also, Go Widgets has a contacts widget that is sense-like.
