It would really be helpful if we know the model of phone and the version of Android you have. Generally, if a cold reset (power off and power back on) doesn't clear up the problem, you might need to perform a factory reset.

Hello, you can try to use application GO Contacts Ex, but you must install GO Launcher Ex too. Or you can download application Contacts Backup.
