Help Problem with data sync after OTA GB pull

I pulled GB from motorola servers last night and it hasn't stopped trying to sync since. I've rebooted it a few times and it's still trying to sync. The battery indicator states that these are the one that have been keeping the phone awake for most of the time. Has anyone heard of this happening to anyone else? Everything's stock (stock froyo and stock GB), never rooted.

I have read that i may have to do a factory reset... but that was with older builds and non-official builds of GB. How can I easily recover all my apps and contacts if i do have to do a factory reset (without being rooted)?

Well all your apps and contacts are backed up to googles servers. To make sure all your contacts have recently been synced go to Settings/accounts/Gmail and make sure your contacts have shown to be recently synced. A factory data reset may be in the works for you unfortunately. With doing this keep in mind that the data for the apps won't be recoverable.
