Help Problem with Dropbox since update to Android 2.3.5

Hi,

This is my first post to this forum, so apologies if my etiquette is wrong.

I've just upgraded my phone to an ODIN flash of Android 2.3.5 (from the guide and links on this site) which is running perfectly in every way....

That is except 1.

Since upgrading, my dropbox app won't open files that are excel spreadsheets? Other file types, .pdf and .docx etc are all fine, but .xsl or xslx fail to open.

My phone tries to use the native app (I'm in the UK) called Polaris to open office docs... but i can't find on either the Android Market or the Samsung Marketplace an app of this name, so i'm unable to un-install and re-install it to resolve the issue.

I've tried un-installing and re-installing Dropbox, but it makes no difference.

Can anyone give me any ideas how to make this work again, as most of my Dropbox files are excel spreadsheets!! This is really frustrating.

Thanks.... oh, and great forum by the way, i'd never have upgraded my Orange UK handset to 2.3.5 without the files and guide on here!!

So are you on a custom rom then? Some custom roms delete Samsung apps, such as Polaris. If you don't have Polaris, that's why you can't open Excel files, it has nothing to do with DB.

Google 'Polaris apk' and install it that way.

hmm.. if ur using a stock 2.3.5 firmware, u should have polaris office still installed.. even on some custom roms, i guess.. check ur app drawer, where all ur apps are, and see if Polaris is there. if the problem ur getting is that it Force closes when u try to open any of these files, try going to Settings/Applications/All, and select polaris, and select Clear data. then try again. hope that works
