Problem with GDocs Notepad Sync - Not sure if it's my phone or the App.

For sometime, I've been using GDocs Notepad.

The good thing about GDocs is it sync's with a designated folder Google Docs.

Lately, I've been having the following problems with this:


  • Getting "Error - Couldn't Sync" upload errors

After numerous problems of creating and editing my notes on the computer to try to resolve the issues, I get HTML gobbledygook each time I sync back to the phone.

Here's a picture of the HTML gobbledygook that's ruining my notes:

I get the same code both on my phone in my GDocs App. The above picture is when I then sync'd it back into Google Docs. This HTML gobbledygook comes after a "successful sync" message.

I'm using the HTC Hero - CDMA - Sprint - Android 2.1

Although I'm not sure if it's the phone or the App.

I've emailed the developer and I'll point him to this thread as well.

Is anyone else having this problem?

If I'm unable to resolve this matter, I'm in search of an alternative Notepad App with Sync.

Preferably, a notepad that Syncs with Google Docs.

I've come across:

Notepad with Sync,

but it's the same developer as GDocs, just syncs to a separate non-Google web page.

There's also,

AK Notepad and 3banana Notes, each that also sync to a separate non-Google web page.

I had the same problem.... seems that Google Docs recently made changes in their format.

I use "Note Everything" and they responded to me with this.

Try the following:
1. go to http://docs.google.com
2. open "Document settings" in the upper right
3. go to tab "Editing"
4. Disable "New version of Google documents"

I'm not sure if it already converted existing docs to the new format. I had just started using "Note Everything" and couldn't get it to work prior to making the above changes.

You may have to re-create the document(s) and try again.

That makes sense because initially, I noticed I was only having problems with the notes that became saved in the new format.

Notes, or Docs actually, created on the web-interface, weren't the problem.

Next, when I re-did the notes hoping that that would fix the problem, I got the problem on all of them.

I'm going to Disable the "New version of Google Documents" and see if that resolves the problem.

I'll report back.
 
I had to re-create the notes in the Old Version.

Everything is back to normal now.

However, I have the following concern:

We'll have to be informed when, or if, the Developer updates the App to move to the New Version.
 
Just to clarify.....

"Notes Everything" is a great app, but you are correct that it does not sync with Google Docs. But You can manually upload or download specific docs using their associated app "N.E. GDocs".

I simply brought it up because the same error was occurring during upload/download with the app "Notes Everything" like others had encountered with "GDocs".

It had to do with Google changing the way Google Documents was handling things.
As of this morning, "Notes Everything" had already issued an update... most likely in response to the change. I haven't tried it yet. I'm sure others will follow shortly...
