Problem with Gmail

I have the same problem, password is correct. I can log in on my pc, but not on my phone. I get the message that my account has changed, or I entered the wrong password, and am prompted to enter it again.

wonder what would happen if you logged back on to it with pc and changed pw back to what it was before and then try again from phone?

also, are you trying to log into gmail while using the gmail app on phone or from browser on phone?

and by the way, Welcome to AF! :)

I changed my password originally because someone else tried to log into my account, and google suggested I change it for security. I also tried a wipe, and set up the account again - and still no good. Also, gmail won't let me use a password I have previously used with the account.

Well, I was thinking of changing it back from pc, see if you can log in on phone with old pw, either app or browser, just to see if you can.

Then maybe, see if you can change the password, from your phone itself.

Do this all pretty quickly, if it doesn't work, change it again with pc.

None of that works. Tried changing the pw again from pc, phone still says username and pw don't match. Can't set it back to old pw from pc, because gmail doesn't allow that.

That didn't really work either. They tried to help, but I don't think they really understood what the problem was. This problem does make the phone considerably less worthwhile. I'm trying to access my google account from a google-made phone.

Wow. Have you stopped the gmail app on the phone and cleared it's cache and data and tried again to log in after rebooting?

Yeah. Thanks for all your help. I eventually just made a separate gmail account so I can at least use the google apps on the phone. I'm hoping talking to google more can let me put my original account back on there, but now it looks like it is an account issue more than a problem with the phone.

Do you happen to have 2-step verification? If so your phone will be looking for an application specific password, not your normal password
