Problem with Google's Latitude

I have been using android mobile phone and from last few weeks I have been observing problem with Google Latitude app.
All of my friends location is unknown on the map, it is showing them as stale, I discussed with a friend of mine and he too have the same issue. (Both of us are online).
I thought there must be some glitch and will be fine after some time. Today I got an update of map and after the update there is no icon of "latitude" app on my apps home, but there is an icon on my screen and it is not showing up on touch.
When I am accessing Latitude from Map apps it is showing my location and all my friends are stale (even if they are online).

What can I do, is there some means like reinstalling the app or something else.

Make sure you have all your location settings updated, it also helps to set your Home and Work locations, I found latitude acted very strangely when it didn't know where i lived and would sometimes not update my location.

As of right now, it updates my location almost instantly, I know if your location settings aren't correct it won't update. I had to change something around the other day with my Check-in's to get it working

Yes, you and your friends need to update your setting and enable location sharing.
