Problem with messaging app

Ok so I downloaded a new app for messaging called handcent. It is now set as my default app but everytime I get a text the stock messaging app still pops up. Anyone know how to fix this?

You need to turn off notification for the default messaging app.

1.Open up the android default messaging app

2. Go to menu, then click on settings.

3. Scroll down and find the option labeled "Notifications", and uncheck the box
