Root Problem with my android phone

when I turn my android phone on it just has a black screen that says something like ok to be programed and says to connect the usb to the computer so I did that and then it says it was in data transfer mode but thats all I cant get out of the black screen please help.

Uh, it looks like your phone is in download mode. What did you do? You'll have to flash a new ROM onto it probably if it can't detect an existing ROM

What exact phone model is it and what carrier are you on?

my phone is motarila droidx and its unlocked and is using a custom carrier but is using verizon network to get its singnle
