I have been using my SGS with a Mac for over a month now.
Here is what you do to mount it:
About--Applications--development-- Enable USB debugging.
-- I haven't been able to find "About" or anything to do with debugging on my Galaxy S. Can you please direct me?
Anticipating my next questions, once I manage to mount the Galaxy on my Macbook, will it really be possible to sync with iCal and Contacts?
Thanks in advance for helping the new guy.

I have solved the problem: USB debugging (Settings>Applications>Development) must be switched on for it to mount properly.

Hi all. Bought the Galaxy S yesterday. I use a Mac and frankly I've been struggling big time with synchronizing the Galaxy with my Mac Os.
I have spent hours browsing trying to figure out if the two devices can be made to work together. I've tried all the above suggestions and yet my phone doesn't mount on my computer. Which pretty much makes this device and its features useless.
I would really appreciate any advice or solutions about the following:
- Is there a Mac version for Kies ?
- I've tried going to Settings --> About Phone --> USB and select "ask on connection". Plug in the phone, then pull down the notification tray and mount the drive and see if that works. It didn't work
What do I do ?

the sales guy at the Mobile store had told me that the galaxy works fine with Mac OS. Maybe there are ways around these problems but the Samsung Galaxy S is definitely not a plug and play, phone.
I'd still say its a damn good phone. For PC users.
I always use USB connection on my Mac - but it might be worth trying Kies Air from the Samsung store. I had a short play with it - it does not allow software updates by the way!I have got the run around from all the vendors.. can SOMEONE at apple or samsung please see this problem, and fix it?
hi first timer here just got an s
was really pleased with it unitl i hooked it upto my mac and the mac wont recognise it at al
ive tried usb debug on the phone still wont show up am i doing soemthing wrong?
That did not work for me either. try this: settings > wireless and network > USB utilities > connect storage to PC.
That worked for me. it showed up in Devices in Finder and also on the desktop.
Good luck and hope it works

I got my Galaxy S a while ago and I eventually figured out how to turn USB debugging mode on and mount the SD card and use iSyncr for Mac to get playlists from my iTunes into my Music app on my phone. Unfortunately I broke my phone, and I'm trying to set up my replacement Galaxy S the same way but when I mount my SD card I get an error message on my MBP saying "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer" and gives me options to initialize, ignore, or eject. Any suggestions as to what to do at this point? Thanks ahead of time.I never ran into this problem with my first Galaxy S.
