What NFL app are you talking about?
never mind I see it, usually turning on airplane mode works, but not sure.
2nd edit: no go on airplane mode, looks like you would need access to the actual .APK file. I personally like the NFL mobile app from Verizon and it has better reviews.

My only problem with that is I don't have the extra ten dollars a month that Verizon charges to use it.
It's free for me... I've used it for a while and never been charged.
I'll have to do a little more research, It was my understanding that they recently changed to a ten dollar fee.
Just copied this form the NFL-Verizon ad.
**Verizon Video monthly access fee waived for NFL Mobile during 2011-2012 NFL Season on 4G smartphones.
Video subscription required for video content on all non-4G smartphones. Message & data rates may apply for app download & use.

I just downloaded and it installed it to my phone and was not informed of any charges, was warned that I *may* incur charges for some video clips, but that is no different than the warning I received last year. I'll check my bill at the end of the month.
The VZW will stream LIVE football games, this is what incurs the $10 charge.
I haven't re-downloaded it so I can't check, but the only advantage I could see of the "generic" NFL app had over the VZW version is I'm not the VZW version as the real time scoreboard. I'll check later today.
