Help Problem with Quickpic app

jo69

Android Enthusiast
Have been using Quickpic for my photos on android for some time and been very happy with it.
But now I am finding when i tap on a photo in any folder i created a small thumbnail of another photo appears somewhere overvthe image.
Tried emptying the cache
Also uninstalling and re installing many times
But no luck
Any ideas as dont know what other simple program i could choose next?

Wow thank you andy. Need to change then:(
That's a shame as its a nice simple program for my family photos
I put them in folders and they look good lol

Any ideas for another simple program? To integrate with Chromecast would be good
Don't want anything that insists adding every image on my phone and tablet.

Also want them to display in the folders I create on my phone. Not all the photos mixed by date

Google Photos seems to have bad reviews and don't want my photos in their cloud!

Not that I can suggest.. Google photos does what i need (although I can see why its not perfect for everyone).

Might be worth scrolling through that thread, to see what the other quickpix users are migrating to....

Thanks But do any of them display as the folders I have created on my phone first?
Similar to Windows folders.
Not all photos together

I have now tried Google photos And I+ gallery.
Both of which insist on importing my photos one by one by date.
Instead of the windows type folders i have created that Quickpic recognises and doesnt mess with. ;)

In A+ it is called Albums. This is grouped by folder.

A+ has a number of grouping options.

BTW ... no ... I do not work for them.

Hi Thom I have tried A+ but dont like the layout as much as quickpic.

Should i be really wary of it then?
Will it know more than google?

QuickPic has access to your sd storage and full internet access. It doesn't have access to contacts, messages etc. So depending on what other apps and services you use it probably has less access than Google do, but Cheetah Mobile are a company who have shown they cannot be trusted.

The problem is, what happens when the next update adds stuff you don't want? Or the one after that?

The thread @psionandy linked includes some suggestions for using QuickPic without CM contamination, including a pre-CM version that's been modified so that it will not update via the Play Store. So if you prefer to keep using that then there are options. I would myself not accept any updates once CM developers have their hands on the code.

Thanks for the info But not completely sure how to stop it updating further.
I am on version 4.5.2

Wish I could find another program that displays my photos the same but so far no luck:(

Piktures does let you do your own folders. I didn't have any on Quickpic, but made some on Piktures. Named the album the way I wanted, and just checked which pictures I wanted to put in the album. You moved the pics to the album you selected.

Some didn't like the app, which is fine. Read their objections in the post mentioned in this thread. I'm using it and just reporting on what it does.

It doesn't use the date.

The description on the App said it uses in app purchases. I haven't seen any yet, so judgment is still reserved.

Thanks. But none of the ones suggested seem to have the same interface as quickpic.
It shows a page full of all my folders together
So i can see at a glance what i want.
No long spaces of titles as the others.
Any more suggestions please?

In A+ selecting options is a "learning experience".

A+ Gallery | Albums shows one entry per album. Clicking on it show all the albums.
Photo | Collection's shows all the photos for a day
(click on "Collections")
Photo | Years shows all the photos for a year (my favorite)

Clicking on an image takes you to the next higher collection type.

Hi Thanks Thom But can only find Photos Sync and Albums.
Nothing else to tap on.
Not the rest Missing something somewhere sorry
Is yours a paid for version?

Clicking on it in android?

I'm using the same one you are. My first impression was the same. After uninstalling it I reinstalled and experimented some ...

Click on Albums and top left says A+ Gallery. This is the folders list.
Click on any folder and it shows all pictures in it.
Click on picture and it is full screen.
Click on full screen picture and stuff at the top disappears.
Click again and it reappears.
Click left arrow at any time and it gores up one level.

Click on photos. Left arrow Moments and color dropdown appears.
Click a color from the color dropdown and only images with that color are displayed.
Click on images and a check mark appears. They can then be shared or deleted.
Click on left arrow and Moments changes to Collections showing all images added for a specific date.
Click on an image to enlarge it (same as above).
Click on left arrow and it changes to Years without an arrow. This is my favorite ... it shows all images for a year.

Swipe left or right at any time to go between the two major areas.

It is a different approach that takes some getting used to. (This is also true of X-plore file explorer ... some great new ides ... takes some work to learn.)

Thanks Will try it tonight
Quickpic is so easy
I put all my photos into folders monthly in ES Explorer and Quickpic just adds them that way No messing.

most galley apps will let you just look at any folders you put images in. With Piktures you just swipe from the left edge of the screen to see the folder list. At you just view Albums. Most others are equally simple.

l miss QuickPic too, but won't let CM have a toehold on my phone.
