Problem with syncing S Planner with Google Calendar

silverhow

Lurker
I am trying to sync "S Planner" on my Samsung Galaxy Note with Google Calendar on my laptop. It works fine if I make an entry on Google Calendar - the entry appears on S Planner almost immediately. However, if I make an entry on S Planner, it never does appear on Google Calendar.

I note that there is a chargeable product called "Google Calendar Sync". Do I require to install this product to make it work from S Planner to Google??

If so, since I do not want to pay for this product, does anyone know a free calendar on a Windows Laptop that will sync both ways with S Planner.

Welcome silverhow, to the AF forums, glad to have ya! :)

Anyhow let me try and help you with your issue, i did some digging and found a thread on another forum and found this:

There are two or rather three very annoying problems about the S-Plannar. First - "My calendar" is default no matter what, second - when you tap "event details" the "all day" box is ticked by default and third - when you untick this box, the date when the event ends changes to the next day, so you have to edit it every single time. This really makes me furious, dunno what kind of a ****** had these "helpful" ideas, it really ruins the experience if you use it a lot.

Luckily, there is a way around it. What I did was I unticked all the calendars except my google calendar and second - when creating a new event I don't tap the day of the month on calendar, I tap an empty space below the calendar (where it says "No event (tap to create)". Unfortunately it works only for te first appointment of the day, but it's usually enough or me.

If this isn't the answer you are looking for feel free to visit the thread yourself here: Can Someone Modify S Planner - xda-developers

Another thread i found was here: S planner and calendar syncing , feature or bug ?! - xda-developers

If neither of those help feel free to rephrase, or reword your problem so i better understand what you need :D

Thanks, and thanks for joining :)

I had the same issue and I resolved the problem, so I'd like to share my solution. *First off, as everyone says, anything you save under "My Calendar" won't sync, so de-select it from the setting. * *

Set up your Gmail account with the original Email app which comes with the device. *It's not the Gmail app. *You need to set up with the app which has @ mark on its icon. *

On the app setting, make sure the sync box is selected. *I think it doesn't matter either if you choose 15 min or 1 hour for the sync frequency. * *

If you want to use Gmail app to check your email, you want to de-select the notification on the device's original email app, so you don't get duplicate email notifications. *

Once I set up my Gmail account with the email app, my calendar synced. * *

I have Galaxy Note 10.1 and Galaxy S2 which I mannually updated to Jelly Bean 2 days ago. *When I updated my GS2 to Jelly Bean, the calendar app was gone and it's replaced by S Planner which I was already familier with on Galaxy Note 10.1, but I couldn't get my GS2's S Planner synced to Google Calendar and to my Note 10.1 *

The S Planner on my Note 10.1 syncs just fine with my Google Calendar, so it was a riddle to me. *Then i came to realize that I hadn't set up my Gmail account on the email app. *Once I set the account up, it worked like a charm. *It's annoying that my duplicate Emails will take up my phone memory for sure, but I rather get the S Planner sync. *

Another good thing that I want to share is that you can color code the events. *Don't use the S Planner's My Calendar color code option if you want it to sync. *

Go to Google Calendar from your computer or your tablet (just so it's easy to see). *On the left side of the screen below the month view, it says "My Calendars." *It's usually your name.

Click on the small arrow inside of a square next to the "My Calendar." *That'll give you an option to "create new calendar." *

Once you hit that, it'll take you to a page to type a name of a new calender category. *You can choose a color for it. *There is also an option to add national holidays or your favorite sport team game schedules as another calendar category. *It's pretty fun and useful. * *

Once you are done making your color coded new calendars, go to Setting on your Galaxy device. *Then go to Calendar. *Under your Gmail account, you will see all of the new calendar categories you added at Google Calendar web site. *

Check mark the boxes and it'll all appear in different colors on your S Planner. The color you picked on computer and the device will be different, but i don't mind as long as my events are coded to right categories in colors. *

I hope this helps!!

Nlissu - thanks for your input. I just moved from an HTC to Note II and I use Outlook at the office. Up to now I could sync the calendar by USB no problem with HTC Sync, but now I have to spend hours researching. With no direct program available from Samsung (weird) that may be a blessing in disguise. Just my luck Google deactivated Google Sync just last Friday! So what to do?

Well, my plan is to use Sync2 Sync2 for Outlook - CNET Download.com to sync with a google calendar and then to follow the directions above to sync down to my device. And if the gods are with me I won't have to update manually by usb any more.

Does anyone know if I am on the right track?

Hi All,

I managed to find the solution to sync my calendar on Note 2 with gcalendar. First, you must be connected to your gcalendar account thru your gmail.

When you create an event in the S Planner calender, on the top right hand corner is an arrow, tap on it and all the calenders you created in gcalendar and Note 2 My calender are shown.

If you created the event in gcalendar, the event will shown in the S Planner calendar as well as the gcalendar when it is sync (if thru wifi, instantly if thru USB, when next sync)

However, if you created it in My Calendar, it would only show in the S Planner calendar and will not be sync with gcalendar.

So it does not make much of a difference if you created it in gcalendar as you have the events in both calendar.

I do not see any downside to this method of creating.

If you have created events in My Calendar, all it takes is to open the events, go to the arrow at the top right hand corner (all the calendars will be shown) and select the gcalendar. Now the event will be sync with the gcalendar and also will be shown on the S Planner.

Hope that helps.
