Help Problem with upgrading to 2.3.5 via KIES

Hello,

My Kies notifies me that there's upgrade of firmware. Great!
But, there's problem. When I start upgrading it fails after downloading firmware upgrade components
It says
Failed to run firmware upgrade. Unknown error occured

When download starts I see that phone disconnects automatically on background of Kies.

I haven't rooted phone it's factory firmware.
I've only changed application install directory to sd card.

That's all

Please help anyone if you know about this problem

hi tommytinkroom
i wanna ask you about your 2.3.5 firmware for galaxy ace, is it a stable version? cause i had upgraded it to 2.3.5 too, but my phone seems like doesn't support or what, keep restarting screen, and some of the software couldn't support and forced to close, i was like.....zzzz.....so i downgraded back to 2.3.4 ==

Hi iglory,
Yeah, from what i could find out this Android 2.3.5 update is an official stable release version from the Netherlands.
I originally had 2.2.1 on my Ace and i updated it to 2.3.3 via Kies, and since that update i noticed the phone got very sluggish and was occasionally freezing.
So when i came across this Odin Android 2.3.5 update i thought i'd give it a try.Well i updated it 6 days ago and the phone is loads more faster and responsive and the battery seems to hold the charge for longer.
I also used the same update on my mates phone and he reports the same improvements. After the update you will get 3Telstra on the top right hand corner, which i was a bit curious about but apparently it's nothing to worry about.:)

I have one question.

I've set it my phone up like that install directory is sd card. If I upgrade I should do that again, yes ? or not?

when i saw this thread about 2.3.5 I checked on Kies if I have it available. Indeed it was, but after the installation in about phone, my version is still 2.3.3

the update's name is: PDA:KPY/PHONE:KP8/CSC:KP5(ROM)
my phone isn't rooted

any suggestions?

I've solved my issue. I've set up Win7 on my laptop (before it was vista) and suddenly everything was done! in a few minutes!

Hi babus,
Yes,go back 8 posts and follow my link.I successfully updated my Ace to 2.3.5 following these instructions.:)

Remember installing firmware's of other regions vai ODIN is equivalent to warranty void. So if you need to go to service center, revert to latest regional firmware.

Hello everyone,

Please advice will i have any problems if i upgrade in kies the formware on my Ace on PDA:KPY/PHONE:KP8/CSC:KP6(SEK) (the laterst upgrade on kies)
Does anybody knows what is the Android version of this? And is flash supports in these version?

I agree with Tommy. Upgrading to 2.3.5 can speed up the phone and conserve more power than previous versions. I upgraded mine last Monday and so far I really liked it so much than 2.3.4. Some noticeable changes would be the overscroll glow effect & Samsung MMM app.

I suggest upgrade your firmware through ODIN than KIES as it is faster, safer and more reliable. AFAIK, if flashing firmware has been disconnected for some reasons like USB cable accidentally removed or Wifi connection suddenly dropped, there's a chance that phone may be bricked. Correct me if I am wrong.
