Problems adding a gmail account

I am trying to add a gmail account to my Orange San Fransico phone but every time I try it tells me I have failed. UserID and password are correct. Anyone got any ideas?:rolleyes:

What is the exact error you're getting? Along with olbriar's advice, I would recommend double-checking the username/password, sometimes a typo can go unseen. Also, check your service connection.
 
I am absolutely sure the signon ID and password are correct. I have checked and double checked to make sure it is correct. The message I receive is 'Sign in is incorrect. Sorry we can't sign you in. Please check user name and password and try again".
This has been happening since I had the phone last Saturday.

Have you changed the sign in credentials online? The username and password may be correct, but is it possible that you're using a password from one account to log into another account?
 
Had the same problem when setting up my Desire. I hadnt noticed that i was catching another key when putting in my password. When i did get it right it told me a couple of times that it "cant establish a secure data connection with the server" It did eventually after a few attempts.

Failing that reset your password.

One other suggestion is to make the password visible. Depending on the keyboard you are using, it may be automatically capitalizing the first letter and in passwords, case matters.
