Problems charging Samsung Tab 3

Since spending some time on dodgy Moscow airport my Tab 3 has issues charging. Since I bought my Tab in Asia I cant use the power adapter that came with it. So I use the original cable but with a different adapter.

When I plug it into a socket, while switched on, nothing happens. The battery icon just remains its normal self.
When I plug it into a socket, while turned off, the screen brightens up, still black, the battery doesn't appear, and the screen goes solid black again after a second, a second later it brightens up again for a second. It just keeps going from black to pitchblack.

When I plug it into a USB port it starts charging instantly, with the red x in the battery, taking ages to charge.

I read quite a few other posts of people who said to have solved similar issues by disconnecting the battery. I opened my tab up, dis- and reconnected the battery. But it hasnt solved anything.

It looks like the battery life is still solid by the way. There is just no way of charging it, apart from hooking it up to a pc for 5 hours.
Could it have been a bad socket at the airport? Or is there another way of saving this battery. The Tab is only three months old and I am not really looking forward to changing to a Chinese battery.

Any help is much appreciated.

What kind of battery do you think you have in there now? The case wrapped around the battery may say "Made in Korea", but the battery itself was probably made in the PRC.

From what you have described, it sounds like the USB port on the tablet is defective. You may have to move the cord around a little bit to get the charge going.

Or the charging cord is faulty. Do you have a spare charger?

The charger needs to be able to provide enough current to charge the tablet. The original charger should be rated at 5 volts, 2 amps (2000ma.). A lesser charger will take longer to charge the tablet, and if it's like many phone chargers (300ma. or so), it might not work at all. That could be your whole problem.
