problems opening ebooks

Hi Folks, I need your help!
When I download a ebook from any site and then try to open it in their app,
the message " Sorry the application need to close" appears and I am unable to read the book. The books appear to be downloading from the various sites but I can't open them to read. I have used the Kindle, Kobo and other reputable sites.
Please help if you can.

I open the Kindle or the Kobo app, USE the app to download eBooks and read them in the app without problems

With other eBook reader like Aldiko, iReader, Moon+ Reader you can download eBooks on PC, transfer them to the SD card and import them with the apps.
You can't do this with the Kindle or the Kobo app.

EDIT: Just learnt I can copy eBooks in the Kindle folder on the SD card and read it with the Kindle app

What app, what site, what phone, what carrier, what software version?

And, are they purchased or free books,what is the format, and have you set up an account/registered your device with the vendor?
