Help Problems Reading Formatted MicroSD

I bought my GSII about three weeks ago and shortly after bought a 16GB PNY MicroSD card. I never really stored anything on it but I planned to put all my music on it when I have time. I just switched over from an iPhone so I had some trouble adjusting and was also having a few problems with the phone itself (locking up, not receiving messages, apps crashing frequently). I then decided to go to the AT&T store. The associate gave my phone a look over. He popped the battery out without shutting off the phone first and took the SD card out. That night I noticed one of the apps I had installed wasn't present. There was just a generic android icon and when I tried to open it it said the app was stored in the SD card. The phone wouldn't even recognize that there was an SD card in the phone.

I have tried formatting the card in every way possible and putting it back in my phone. Still no luck. The thing is the computer reads the card fine. Somehow phones just have trouble reading it. I put the card in my roommate's Droid Incredible and had the same result. I even put music files on the card from the computer and still nothing shows up when it's in a phone.

Is there anything else I can try? Is this a common problem? I just want to know if there's an alternative to dishing out another $40 for an SD card.

Did you format it in NTFS by any chance? I think S2 only recognizes FAT formatted sd card. I know it doesn't recognize NTFS usb thumb drives.

On one of my old phones (samsung intercept) I could only get the sd card to read if I unchecked the "quick format" in windows and formatted it as Fat32. It took a long time to format, but seemed to fix the issues.

I have seen it where an SDcard will work with one phone and not another. It sucks, and you'll probably have to replace the card.
